UPDATE: A fire at Extractas Bioscience on Birralee Rd, Westbury, has been found to be accidental and contained to a hopper.
Volunteer fire crews from Cressy, Westbury and Deloraine Brigades responded initially with a further two crews from Launceston Brigade attending for support.
On arrival crews were confronted with a large amount of thick black smoke in the area.
Given the contained location, there was no smoke risk to the community.

EARLIER: Multiple Tasmania Fire crews are attending a fire at the poppy manufacturing facility Extractas Bioscience on Birralee Rd, Westbury.
Black smoke was reported coming from the plant room within the processing plant at around 8am.
The immediate area has been evacuated but staff are still on site throughout the rest of the facility.
