๐ฃFrom today, Thursday 14 May, new road rule changes are in effect for bicycle riders and eRideable users in WA.
๐น eRideables can now be used on all roads with speed limits of up to 50 km/h, helping reduce conflict in high pedestrian areas such as the Perth CBD.
๐น Bicycle riders and eRideable users are no longer required to give hand signals if it would be unsafe to do so in the circumstances, such as riding down a steep hill. Where a device is fitted with brake lights or indicators, those must still be used.
๐น eRideable users can now use bicycle storage areas on relevant roads, these are the green boxed protection zones at traffic lights. Turn left from the left section of the box and right from the right section.
๐น Riders are no longer required to keep left in single-lane roundabouts, aligning WA with the Australian Road Rules.
These updates are intended to better reflect how people travel and improve safety for all road users.
