Helena Bogaerts has seen through her mother how much the construction industry has changed for women over the years.

Today, she is building on that progress in her own way as a Project Engineer at Cegelec Fire Solutions, where she designs sprinkler systems and follows up on their implementation on site.

For Helena, good engineering does not stop at what works on paper. It means understanding how plans come to life in practice and how different perspectives can lead to smarter solutions.

We continue our Women in Technology campaign with a story about growth in every sense of the word, personal and professional.

Meet Laurence Ketels, Business Analyst at Actemium Belgium, who supports customers in the animal feed sector, translates their needs into solutions and coordinates projects and programming teams.

Now featured for the second time in the campaign, she shares a new chapter: one in which pregnancy and career growth go hand in hand.

What stands out in her story is the trust and openness that allow her to speak honestly about doubts, feel supported by colleagues, and keep growing through every stage of life.

Heidy Bernal arrived in Belgium with a suitcase, a dream and the courage to begin again. 🌍�
Meet Heidy, an Industrial Electrician at Actemium, who builds, maintains and repairs electrical installations on industrial sites. 🔧

From SENA in Colombia to two demanding roles, she turned theory into grit. She came to Belgium through an exchange programme to learn the language, discover new cultures and broaden her horizons.�
Heidy: “I did not come from a technical background and still my colleagues were incredibly supportive.”�
A VDAB electricity course became her launchpad into VINCI Energies. Often the only woman on site, her confidence grew with every cable pulled, every circuit tested, every job done right. 💪 This is proof that you never know where your passion and perseverance can take you.�

VINCI Energies acquires International Fire Control (IFC), a specialist in fire detection and fire protection systems operating in Belgium and Luxembourg. IFC, which specializes in consulting, design, engineering, installation and maintenance of fire protection systems, will strengthen the Fire Solutions activities of VINCI Energies in Belgium.

With a revenue of €25.5 million in 2024, IFC employs 160 people and operates from offices in Tournai (Belgium) and Ellange (Luxembourg) and serves customers in sectors such as industry, tertiary buildings, logistics, and defense. For VINCI Energies in Belgium, the acquisition represents an expansion of its technical expertise and a strengthening of its local presence in Wallonia and Luxembourg. IFC was founded in 2008 and has grown to become a benchmark in fire protection, with its own engineering capabilities, a prefabrication workshop, and specialized installation teams.
