This week we were on the ground in Strasbourg for the first plenary session of the new political season. Here’s a snapshot of what we got up to👉🏻

Our policy team were on-site for discussions on Europe’s energy transition, talking all things solar, storage, electrification, supply chains, and of course, keeping the EU’s renewable energy target for 2040.

We met with MEPs from across political parties, sharing our insights on key challenges and opportunities for solar and storage in Europe.

And of course the highlight of the week: President Von der Leyen delivered her State of the Union address: “Let’s make Europe’s future electric!”

🌇Last week, Rooftop REconnect 2026 brought together EU policymakers, MEPs and energy leaders for an evening of discussion, networking and good energy.

We were delighted to welcome Executive Vice-President Teresa Ribera, alongside MEPs and , for discussions on Europe’s energy future. The evening also marked the launch of our campaign, calling for a strong renewables target for 2040.

☀️From 10% to 25% in just five years!

In June 2026, solar generated a record 52 TWh of electricity, providing a quarter of the EU’s power for the first time ever.

Even more impressively, solar became Europe’s largest source of electricity for the month, generating more power than nuclear, gas, wind and hydropower.

This rapid growth highlights the increasingly important role of solar in delivering affordable, home-grown energy while strengthening Europe’s energy security.
