If you operate or are thinking of operating transitional housing, take the time to think it through:

Who are we aiming to serve through the program?
Why are we aiming to serve that group?
What will our support model be?
What is the outcome we want at the end?
How will this improve permanent housing outcomes?

A lot of transitional housing is program-centric and compliance based. However, it seems to work better when it is person-centred and functions through empowerment in decision-making.
