It starts with secure supply chains and the critical materials that make modern defence technology possible.

Graphite is a foundational material used in advanced composites, thermal management systems, energy storage, autonomous systems, and next-generation aerospace and defence applications. As governments work to reduce reliance on foreign-controlled supply chains, securing domestic and allied sources of critical minerals has become a strategic priority.

The recently introduced Decoupling from Foreign Adversarial Battery Dependence Act, which would prohibit the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from procuring batteries produced by certain Chinese-owned manufacturers beginning in 2027, is another clear signal that resilient, allied supply chains are becoming a matter of national security.

Canada has a unique opportunity to contribute.

Building a reliable North American graphite supply isn't just about mining—it's about supporting defence readiness, advanced manufacturing, and the technologies that will define the future.

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) through the First and Last Mile Fund, which will provide up to C$1.38 million to advance road and power infrastructure planning for the Lac Knife Graphite Project.

As the Honourable Minister Timothy Hodgson stated:
"This is how we strengthen economic and supply chain security for decades to come."

Critical minerals don't become supply chains because they exist in the ground.

Over the past week, Focus Graphite Inc. participated in the Economic Mission on Critical and Strategic Minerals across Germany, Belgium, and France — including roundtables at NATO Headquarters, the European Union, and the EIT RawMaterials Summit.

Across Europe, one theme was consistent: allied nations are urgently working to secure resilient critical mineral supply chains independent of adversarial jurisdictions.

Discussions with DG DEFIS, the European Commission’s and space directorate, reinforced the growing strategic importance of across defence, energy, advanced manufacturing, and supply chains.

At the EIT RawMaterials Summit, Jason Latkowcer, VP Corporate Development, participated in a well-attended panel focused on "Strengthening Québec-Europe Ties to Build Resilient EV and Defence Supply Chains".

Alongside government and institutional meetings, Focus Graphite Inc. held multiple B2B discussions related to future supply relationships, strategic partnerships, and potential opportunities tied to long-term graphite demand.

Europe is preparing for strategic stockpiling. Focus intends to deliver from Lac Knife — North America’s highest-grade graphite deposit with a completed 2023 feasibility study — alongside Lac Tétépisca, a double-digit grade graphite asset and one of the largest graphite deposits in the world.
