Why do families avoid discussing wills and estate planning, and why is it dangerous?**
Most family conflicts following a loss occur because essential estate planning conversations were avoided, not simply due to the passing itself.

As attorney Marlenne Doss notes: *"The conversation that will tear your family apart is the one you are not having."* Families remain silent due to fear of losing control, privacy concerns, or the superstitious belief that discussing end-of-life planning expedites death. To protect loved ones, estate planning discussions must be approached with preparation rather than calling sudden, unprepared family meetings.

Q1: What fears keep families silent about wills and estate planning?**

Fear of Losing Control & Privacy:** Many individuals keep financial and estate details private during their lifetime to maintain authority and avoid family interference.

Superstition / Fear of Mortality:** Some individuals hesitate because they feel discussing end-of-life arrangements somehow expedites their death.

Fear of Conflict:** People avoid difficult topics out of fear of sparking arguments or opening up old family grievances.

Q2: What is the biggest mistake people make when bringing up estate planning?**

Calling an unprepared "cold turkey" family meeting without first establishing clarity, goals, and guidance from a trusted advisor.

Q3: How do wills and estate planning protect families?**

* Estate planning provides legal clarity, protects assets, and prevents administrative confusion and emotional distress among surviving family members during a crisis.

"How Do I Speak God's Word" by Mindy Tialo - PWT Publishing

08/27/2026

Success doesn’t reveal the true quality of a leader—setbacks do. When things fall apart, we discover whether we have the emotional capacity to learn, adapt, and lead forward.

What happens when a high-achieving leader experiences a high-stakes, public setback? Most are taught to "bounce back" immediately, mask the pain, and dive straight back into action mode. But rushing the process only guarantees you'll repeat the mistake.

In this powerful episode of More Than Success, host Dr. Carolina M. Billings is joined by PWT Mentor Expert Youssef Skally, founder of Scalability Coaching. Moving past the superficial clichés of "everything happens for a reason," they tackle the heavy internal work that leaders are rarely given the grace to perform: professional grieving.

Dr. Billings and Youssef break down why a setback is actually a form of loss—of an expectation, a timeline, or an identity—and why real resilience often means letting go rather than holding on. If you are navigating an executive pivot, an entrepreneurial hurdle, or a major life change, this episode offers a compassionate, strategic framework to help you stop simply moving through adversity and start adapting forward.

Inside the Episode:
• The myth of the non-linear success journey.
• Distinguishing external losses (status, titles) from internal shifts.
• Redefining conflict as a value misalignment.
• Why growth doesn't start when the setback ends, but when the processing begins.

True resilience isn't about stubbornness or blindly "pushing through." It's about professional grieving, letting go of outdated definitions of success, and knowing how to pause, process, and adapt forward.

Am I Ready to Become the Person My Next Chapter Requires?
At some point, many of us begin asking a question that is both exciting and unsettling:

What is next for me?

Not, what should I do next?
Not, what does society expect from me next?
But what is genuinely possible for me now?
This is where Living Your Prime begins.

Living Your Prime is not an age. It is not a demographic category, a retirement plan, or a polite way of describing getting older.
It is a mindset.

It is the conscious decision to reject the assumption that our most meaningful years are behind us simply because more years are behind us than ahead of us.

Why that distinction matters.

For generations, we have organized life around a linear narrative: learn, build, achieve, retire, decline. Think of it as the "Traditional Hustle Paradigm". But human development is not nearly so tidy.
We can reinvent. We can deepen our purpose. We can build new relationships, careers, businesses and identities. We can become more of ourselves, not less. I like to think of it as "The Integrated Leadership Shift," which is Personal Leadership.

Possibility requires responsibility.

No one else can decide that our lives are still worth expanding.
No one can give us permission to dream again.
No one can take responsibility for our vitality, curiosity, relationships, well-being, financial independence or sense of purpose.

That responsibility belongs to us.

And perhaps that is what is truly at stake. If we surrender our future to age-based expectations, fear or familiarity, we risk becoming spectators in our own lives.

So, what could be next?

I would love for you to explore that question with us at Living Your Prime: Best Years, Best Life on September 12th. Greater Toronto Area, Richond Hill, Markham and Surrounding 905

Come and join the conversation about what it means to live fully, purposefully and courageously in the years ahead.

Because perhaps our prime is not a time we leave behind.
Perhaps it is a life we decide to claim.

We often think our words describe our lives.
But they are also shaping the lives we are living.

The words we repeat become familiar. What becomes familiar can become believable. And what we believe influences how we interpret our experiences, how we respond to adversity, and what we believe is possible next.

Think about the phrases we say without even noticing:
“I am not ready.” “I always do this.” “It is too late.” “I have no choice.” “I should be over this by now.” “That is just who I am.”

Sometimes these words are spoken from exhaustion. Sometimes from disappointment. Sometimes from wounds that have never really been permitted to heal.

And sometimes, we have repeated them for so long that we no longer recognize them as stories. We experience them as facts.
Language is not neutral.

The words we use can reinforce helplessness or agency, fear or faith, limitation or possibility.

This does not mean pretending that pain does not exist. Nor does healing require us to cover difficult experiences with positive language.

Healing requires honesty. Faith requires courage. Transformation requires choice.

Perhaps the shift begins with the questions we ask.

Instead of “Why is this happening to me?” we might ask, “What can I learn from this?”

Instead of “I am broken,” perhaps we can say, “I am healing.”

Instead of “I have no choice,” we might ask, “What choice do I have from here?”

Those are not merely different sentences. They represent different positions from which we approach our lives.

Our words do not magically change circumstances. They cannot erase grief, disappointment, betrayal or uncertainty. But they can change how we meet those circumstances.

They can remind us that our past may explain us without having to permanently define us. They can create space for faith when certainty is unavailable. They can help us recognize that coping may have been necessary once, while choosing may be possible now.

And perhaps that is where language becomes particularly powerful.

The story is not always about changing what happened.
Sometimes it is about changing whom we understand ourselves to be because of what happened.

So today, let us pause before we speak.
What story are our words telling about our lives, our faith, our healing and our future?

And perhaps the most important question of all:

Is it still the story we want to live?

More Than Success is where those conversations continue.
If you are curious about what makes a meaningful life, what helps us navigate change, and what becomes possible when we stop measuring our worth by achievement alone, we invite you to join us.

Pain can leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about what comes next. Yet, with reflection, resilience, and the willingness to heal, our experiences can become a source of wisdom and purpose.

In this powerful episode of More Than Success, Youssef Skalli, Sallie Wagner and host Dr. Carolina M. Billings explore the transformative journey from "Pain to purpose to peace".

We examine what happens when we stop allowing difficult experiences to define us and begin using them as catalysts for growth, healing, and meaningful change.

Together, we explore:

* How we can begin healing from experiences that have shaped us
* The connection between pain, personal growth, and purpose
* Why finding meaning in our experiences can change how we move forward
* How to transform adversity into wisdom rather than allowing it to define us
* The difference between simply moving on and genuinely finding peace
* Why purpose can become a powerful part of our healing journey
* How we can create a life that feels meaningful, peaceful, and aligned

More Than Success goes beyond achievement, ambition and the traditional measures of success. Hosted by Dr. Carolina M. Billings, each conversation explores the human side of success — the experiences, relationships, choices and inner transformations that shape the lives we ultimately build.

"Our story does not have to end where our pain began. Pain can shape us. Purpose can guide us. Peace can transform us."

You built the successful life you once dreamed about… but what comes next?
For many of us, success was the goal. The career. The achievements. The milestones. The recognition.

But eventually, a deeper question emerges:
“Am I truly enjoying the life I worked so hard to create?”
Our prime years are not about slowing down.
Success opened the door.
Now it is time to step through it.

We do not prepare for what we doubt. We prepare for what we genuinely expect.

Long before the opportunity arrives, we write the book, build the programme, record the podcast, refine the presentation, and continue showing up—often with little evidence that anything is changing.

Everyone loves the vision.

Far fewer embrace the daily discipline of watering the dirt.

The quiet, unseen work.

The consistent action.

The days when no one is watching.

Yet it is those ordinary days that become the foundation of extraordinary outcomes.

Faith is not simply believing something good will happen. Faith is demonstrated through our daily actions. It is choosing to prepare, to build, to learn, and to serve—even before we see the harvest.

What are your daily habits preparing you to receive?

In my latest LinkedIn Newsletter, I explore why preparation is one of the most powerful expressions of faith, leadership, and entrepreneurship, and why the future we hope for begins with the actions we take today.

I invite you to read the full article and share your thoughts. I would love to hear what you are preparing for in this season of your life.

Real luxury was never the handbag.
It was always the freedom.

The freedom to:
Choose peace over pressure.

Growth over survival.
Purpose over performance.

The next generation of women is redefining success.
Not by what we own —
