Last week, I had the opportunity to join colleagues, clients, and community leaders in celebrating 10 years of BMO for Women.

What stood out most was not only the insights shared on leadership, the economy, and business growth, but the strength of the relationships and connections being built among women who are driving change in our communities and industries.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to such an inspiring afternoon. I'm grateful to be part of a network that believes in supporting ambition, creating opportunities, and helping more women succeed in business and in life.

I'm returning from BMO Private Wealth's Performance Conference in Toronto feeling energized, challenged, and grateful.
The conference brought together a select group of Private Wealth professionals from across Canada to share ideas, learn from industry leaders, and discuss the future of wealth management.

Over several days, one theme stood out:
The future of wealth management is about much more than investment performance.

The best advisors are building businesses that combine deep technical expertise with collaboration, technology, and exceptional client experience.

Some of my biggest takeaways:
• How artificial intelligence can create greater efficiency, freeing advisors to spend more time on meaningful client conversations.
• Why the strongest client outcomes come from bringing together specialists across investment management, tax, estate planning, private banking, and business succession planning.
• The importance of building scalable teams and processes that allow clients to receive a consistently high level of service as a practice grows.
• How disciplined portfolio construction and access to specialized investment expertise can help clients stay aligned with their long-term goals through changing market conditions.

Most importantly, the conference reinforced something I have always believed:
Our responsibility is not simply to manage investments. It is to help families make confident decisions, simplify complexity, and create lasting wealth across generations.

I am excited to bring these ideas back to my team as we continue building a practice focused on delivering an elevated, family-office-style experience for the individuals, families, professionals, business owners, and retirees we serve.

Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at the Kitchener Public Library on one of the three core pillars of wealth accumulation: personal finance fundamentals and budgeting.

One of the biggest misconceptions about wealth is that budgets are only for people who are struggling financially. In reality, many of my wealthiest clients still follow a budget, even if it looks different than it did earlier in life.

They live below their means. They pay attention to the details. They understand that financial success is often built through small, consistent decisions rather than dramatic changes.

The truth is that wealth leaks are everywhere: unused subscriptions, frequent meal deliveries, impulse purchases, and those little extras that find their way into our shopping carts. Individually, they seem insignificant. Over time, they can have a meaningful impact on our ability to build wealth.

When it comes to long-term wealth accumulation, I believe there are three core pillars:

✅ Budgeting and spending intentionally
✅ Growing your savings and investments
✅ Optimizing your income

If you know me, you know I love to read, learn, and share knowledge with others. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed hosting financial literacy sessions at the Kitchener Public Library as a way to give back to the community and empower individuals to make simple changes that can create significant results over time.

Whenever I want to learn something new, the KPL is one of the first places I turn. I'm proud to support an organization that makes learning accessible to everyone.

September: The Month of Fresh Starts

As a busy working mom, business owner, and wealth advisor, I've always felt that September is the true beginning of a new year.
The routines return. The schedules fill up. The pace quickens.

This week, I'm diving into Martha Stewart's book on organizing as a reminder that success rarely comes from doing more. It comes from creating systems that allow us to focus on what matters most.

The most successful people I know aren't necessarily the smartest or the busiest. They're intentional. They have a place for everything, a plan for what's important, and regular habits that keep life from feeling overwhelming.

At home, that might mean organizing calendars, meal plans, or school activities.
In business, it means prioritizing relationships, managing time wisely, and focusing energy where it creates the greatest impact.

And financially? Organization can be the difference between simply managing money and building lasting wealth.

As we head into the fall season, here is a quick financial organization checklist to help ensure your financial life is as organized as the rest of your household:
✅ Review your will and powers of attorney
✅ Confirm beneficiary designations on registered accounts and insurance policies
✅ Review your investment strategy and asset allocation
✅ Assess whether excess cash should be put to work
✅ Organize important financial documents in a secure location
✅ Update your net worth statement
✅ Review insurance coverage (life, disability, critical illness, property)
✅ Confirm tax installment and RRSP/TFSA contribution plans
✅ Check debt and renewal dates on mortgages or lines of credit
✅ Review your estate plan with your family and professional advisors

The best time to get organized isn't January.
It's before life gets busy again.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping clients navigate some of life's most important financial decisions. From preparing for retirement and managing the proceeds from a business sale to supporting children and grandchildren or creating a lasting legacy, these conversations are about far more than investments. They are about helping people live the lives they envision.

This summer marked an important milestone as I assumed full ownership of our practice following Wayne Schooley's retirement. I am incredibly grateful for the foundation we built together and excited for the next chapter ahead.

While much has changed over the years, our mission remains the same: to provide thoughtful advice, exceptional service, and disciplined wealth management tailored to each client's unique goals.

What began as a small advisory practice has evolved into a growing team of talented professionals supported by the extensive resources, research capabilities, and expertise of BMO Private Wealth.

A few quiet days by the lake can have a way of putting things into perspective.

For many business owners, summer provides rare time to step back from the day-to-day and think about what's next. Questions that often get pushed aside suddenly come into focus:

Selling a business is often one of the largest financial events of a person's lifetime. Yet maximizing value extends far beyond simply finding a buyer.
