Flow coating seat components with epoxy 💎

This process allows us to build a thick, coating which we did on the top layer of our seats 🪵

Masking tape forms a raised boarder around the edge of the part that allows for a deep pour, once the epoxy gels we remove this to produce a soft rounded edge to the coating. The total coating is approximately equivalent to a 10-15 coat varnish system in film thickness 🫗

This isn’t the final finish. It forms the start of our finishing process and this will be overcoated with a two part varnish system to give UV protection to the varnish below ☀️

For this stage we have used TotalBoat high performance epoxy resin with a slow hardener for maximum flow time 🕰️

Filleting our little boats to create increased strength and a clean radius on all internal corners 👌

We are using TotalBoat high performance epoxy for this. The medium hardener gives us a great working time for our conditions that allow the project to move on later in the day 💨

The pure clear epoxy thickened with silica and some wood flour delivers a good match to our pre coated Okoume plywood planks just in case we decide to bright finish the boats internally 💎

Launching our little skiff 🌅

We had a lovely evening of silent motoring thanks to the Mercury Marine Avator electric motor 😊 only the sound of water running over the hull could be heard 🌊

It’s been called ugly and a bad design but we think this is a lovely looking, very practical little boat after putting her on the water yesterday evening 😊
