Tomorrow I start a new chapter training to be a secondary school PE Teacher🤩🙌🏻
Soon to be 30 and I’m heading back to university. I last was there 6 years ago studying my masters in sport and exercise psychology at Loughborough.
Since then I’ve worked in over 10 schools, lead youth clubs and multisports camps and charity nights. Always looking to build experience, knowledge and skills. No matter what age you are you can improve.
In these 29 years I’ve had so many teachers say I won’t achieve, I wouldn’t get any GCSE’s, I won’t get into college and I wouldn’t get into university. I’ve even had colleagues saying I wouldn’t get into Warwick. I could have quite easily believed everyone and just be happy with an average wage, aim for no success and have no ambition.
I just love proving people wrong. I have so much compassion for when a child feels useless, not good enough, undervalued and when things aren’t going their way. You can always find a way to make it work for your own development. Everyone can learn, everyone can improve and everyone can be successful.
I’m going to be a teacher who will listen, be patient, adapt, graft and support and challenge children to unlock their potential. This is a privilege and I cannot wait to keep on making a positive impact with the next generation.
A dyslexic boy from Nuneaton who was for most of his life 3 years behind in his academic performance can succeed. Not an easy journey but I’m so thankful for it as it’s provided me with resilience, persistence and acceptance. Pressure makes diamonds.
Bring on this next chapter. Cannot wait to learn loads and apply all my learnings in practice and build and widen my craft😁🏉🎾🏐🏸🏀🤸♂️🏏⚽️
