⚠️ Roadworks Update – Buccleuch Street, Dumfries ⚠️

Resurfacing works on Buccleuch Street started today and are due to complete tomorrow (Friday).

Today's weather conditions are affecting the time required for the newly laid asphalt to cool and cure.

To ensure the road surface meets the required quality and safety standards, the road will remain closed until approximately 8pm this evening, rather than reopening at 5pm as planned.

We appreciate this may cause inconvenience and would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their continued patience while these essential works are completed safely and to the required standard.

Please continue to follow signed diversions and allow extra time for your journey if travelling in the area this evening.

Essential road works will take place on the A780 Buccleuch Street, between Buccleuch Street and Charlotte Street, Dumfries, on Thursday 23 July and Friday 24 July 2026.

🛣️ Works: Surface resurfacing
📅 Dates: 23–24 July 2026
⏰ Times: 8am–5pm daily

Traffic management
🔴 Road closure are in place between 8am and 5pm each

Diversion routes
➡️ Via A76, A75(T), A701 Edinburgh Road, A780 Academy Street and vice versa
➡️ Via A780 Loreburn Street, Shakespeare Street and Whitesands
