What do you really reward?
Performance or behaviour?

You might say both. But what happens when the two clash?
Because what you reward is what people learn to repeat. So ask yourself:
Are we rewarding the results you want - or the behaviours you want to see more of?

CULTURE QUESTIONS | PART 3
What do you really reward — performance or behaviour?

Most organisations would probably say both.
But when it comes down to it, which one gets the recognition?

If someone delivers great results but behaves in a way that goes against your values, what happens?
And what message does that send to everyone else?
Because your culture isn’t just shaped by what you say you value.

It’s shaped by what you reward.

So, what does your organisation really reward?
💬 Performance or behaviour?

You can’t always solve a people problem in a meeting room.

Sometimes, you need to change the environment to change the conversation.
That’s one of the reasons DCo and Newgale Lodge work so well together.

DCo brings the challenge.
Newgale Lodge creates the space.

Away from the usual office distractions, teams can step back, think differently and have the conversations that are often difficult to have when everyone is rushing from meeting to meeting.
Because a corporate residential shouldn't just be about getting people out of the office.
It should be about getting people to think differently.

Different environment.
Different conversations.
Different outcomes.

So, what would your team do differently if you took them out of the usual environment?

CULTURE QUESTIONS | PART 2
🚩 Would you recognise the warning signs?

A workplace culture rarely deteriorates overnight.
It starts with small things.
People stop speaking up.
Conversations become more guarded.
Teams stop challenging decisions.
Good people become disengaged.

And eventually, nobody wants to be the person who says, “Something isn't right here.”

So here's the question:
What's the biggest warning sign that an organisation's culture is starting to deteriorate?
We've got our thoughts.

But we'd love to hear yours 👇

Onboarding shouldn't just tell people where everything is.

It should start showing them who you are.
Your onboarding process is one of the first opportunities to shape your workplace culture, build connection and help new employees understand what your organisation really stands for.

So, what if onboarding was about more than policies, procedures and a checklist?

Our free Culture Carriers resource explores how to turn onboarding into a culture-building experience — with practical tools, case studies and ideas you can put into practice.

Because your new hires deserve more than a checklist.

Which one sounds like your organisation?

Every workplace has a culture. But is it the culture you *think* you have?

Our Culture Identity Check could reveal:

→ The Accountability Gap
→ The Leadership Gap
→ The Collaboration Gap
→ The Change & Growth Challenge
→ The Strong Foundation

Some might sound familiar. Some might make you uncomfortable.

There’s the culture on your values slide.
And then there’s the culture people actually experience every day.
They’re not always the same.
The gap can show up in who gets heard, how decisions are made, what happens when someone makes a mistake, and what really gets rewarded.
Our latest blog looks at why that gap exists — and why you can’t fix a culture gap you haven’t identified.
