🎿 Would you buy skis knowing they weren’t built to the same specification as the ones in shops? 🤔

Here’s something that might ruffle a few feathers in the ski industry…

Not all skis are created equal!

As I explain in this video, rental skis can look almost identical to retail models while using different materials, construction methods and components. They’re often designed with durability, easy maintenance and cost in mind.

During my time working in ski resorts, I saw rental skis pushed through season after season. Some were recycled at the end of the season; others went straight back out for more punishment, provided they were still in one piece! 😂

I’m not saying every rental ski is inferior, or that every rental shop operates this way. There are some excellent rental operations out there. But this was my experience, and it’s worth discussing.

So, next time you pick up rental skis that look like retail models, remember: what looks the same on the outside may be very different inside.

While the boss is away our new ski binding driller machine has arrived 🙂 With some help from the creators of this machine we have got it up and running ready for us to use after testing. With over 200 ski binding patterns and superb accuracy this will enhance our binding mounting services even further…

We are the UK showroom for this new tool so if any ski shops want to come and take a look and get a demonstration let us know!

That’s the Snow Show London wrapped this year, a quieter day 2 but it gave us a chance to look round and for some photos to be taken of Scott doing his ski tech science thing…

A HUGE thankyou to all the people that came up to me today at Snow Show London to chat about our videos. It’s not something I am overly comfortable doing so it means a lot to hear that they are useful for some people, and the kind words really made my day as we head into a very busy season - I was blown away by the feedback 👍🎿

If anyone has any suggestions for future videos please let me know and we will do our best - it really is a team effort covering my work to do them and helping me prepare - and I can’t do it without the huge support of
James our videographer and editor, very lucky to have someone so skilled working with us 😊

A very nervous Scott reporting from Snow Show London as I prepare for my talk on the equipment stage.

Despite my willingness to do videos I am not the most confident person so if any of our customers are here today at 1:30pm or 2:15pm please come along and support me 🙂 No heckling please 😊

I am down to do a ski and board care talk waxing a ski but I am actually giving a talk from our ski technician course called What Lies Beneath - The WHAT and WHY that you need to know before the HOW…

It’s also featured in the latest issue of Fall Line Skiing magazine which is their excellent gear guide so if you are coming along please pop onto their stand on the ground floor and say hi and grab your copy. The 2 page article on ski construction is of course outstanding 😁
