We're sad to share that unfortunately, due to the weather forecast and concerns around airfield conditions and safety, Sherburn Aero Club has made the difficult decision to cancel their Main Summer Event tomorrow, Saturday 29th August.
We know many people were looking forward to the event, and weβre sorry to share this disappointing news. Please see Sherburn Aero Clubβs full statement for more information and details of their plans to continue the tradition in 2027 βοΈ
IMPORTANT NOTICE
It is with immense disappointment and frustration that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our Main Summer Event, scheduled for Saturday 29th August 2026.
Our main priority as an airfield is to protect our runways and grass surfaces. With tomorrowβs weather forecast, there is simply too great a risk of causing significant damage to the airfield.
In addition, there is a risk of thunderstorms over the airfield during the event, which could pose a serious danger to everyone involved. The safety of our visitors, members, pilots and staff must always come first.
We hold this event to showcase Sherburn Aero Club and celebrate its rich aviation heritage. Unfortunately, the forecast rain would mean that we would be unable to offer flights, the planned aerobatic display would not be able to take place, and visiting aircraft may be unable to fly into the airfield.
We have proudly held this event for the past five years, and we are committed to continuing the tradition in 2027.
We sincerely apologise to everyone who was looking forward to attending and to all those involved in planning and supporting the event. We share your disappointment and are incredibly sorry that we have had to make this decision.
To confirm once again: Sherburn Aero Club's Main Summer Event on Saturday 29th August 2026 has been cancelled.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
