🐔 Case Study: Delivering a Clear-Span Poultry Facility in Powys
This custom designed and built clear-span steel-framed flat deck egg laying poultry complex comprises modern poultry houses, an integrated biosecurity link room, and a separate packing and amenity building.
The poultry houses incorporate 19 portal frame bays, creating large, unobstructed internal spaces that maximise bird welfare, operational efficiency, and ease of management. Comprehensive biosecurity measures were incorporated throughout the facility, including full shower-in/shower out facilities to support strict hygiene and disease prevention protocols.
The dedicated packing and amenity building provides a complete range of staff and operational facilities, including:
- Male and female shower facilities
- Canteen and rest room
- Office accommodation
- Chemical store
- Temperature-controlled egg store
A galvanised water tank stand was also installed within the amenity area to support the site’s water management requirements.
The buildings feature a 2mm thick galvanised eaves beam gutter system, providing effective rainwater management.
The poultry house ventilation system, supplied by Newquip and installed by Jaques, includes extraction fans and air inlet systems designed to maintain optimal environmental conditions for bird health and productivity.
Externally, the buildings were finished in Juniper Green roof and wall cladding. Internally, the poultry house was finished in Goosewing Grey, while the packing and amenity building was finished in White, creating bright, clean, and practical working environments throughout the facility.
