What’s the one feature that instantly makes a shower feel more luxurious?

It’s not the size.

It’s the details.

This recessed shower niche creates practical storage while adding a soft glow that highlights the natural veining of the marble-effect wall. Paired with large-format porcelain tiles and a frameless shower screen, the whole space feels calm, open and effortlessly elegant.

If you are planning a new bathroom, think about how each element works together. Lighting, texture and clean lines often have a bigger impact than adding more features.
The best bathrooms don’t just look beautiful, they make every day feel that little bit better.

Would you include an illuminated shower niche in your bathroom, or do you prefer a cleaner wall with no storage?

Save this post if you’re collecting ideas for your future bathroom.

WOW!house 2026 wasn’t just eye candy - it was a masterclass in restraint 💛🍭

Three things we are taking back to our own projects:

1. One hero material beats five competing ones. The standout vanity used a single richly veined onyx, lit from beneath. No extra finishes fighting for attention.

2. The ceiling is part of the design, not an afterthought. Coffered ceilings, statement lighting from above - height and ceiling finish shape a room before you’ve chosen a single tap.

3. Classical is back, but with confidence. Draped fabric, skirted vanities, curved edges - not pastiche, just designers who know exactly what they are doing.

(We used the same principle in a recent Putney project — onyx as the hero material in a cloakroom, kept deliberately simple).
Full breakdown on the blog → link in bio - it was a masterclass in restraint.

Bold doesn’t have to mean big 👨‍🎨

The cloakroom is rarely the room that gets the attention. When a home renovation begins, the focus naturally goes to the en-suite, the family bathroom, the spaces people linger in. The cloakroom is an afterthought. A practical necessity. A room you pass through rather than pause in.

We think that’s exactly where people get it wrong.

This cloakroom forms part of our Japandi-inspired project in Putney - a home designed from the inside out, where every room was given the same level of care, the same consideration, the same refusal to settle. And in this small space, with its compact footprint and a single, extraordinary material, something genuinely special happened.

The tile is Nuvole Onyx Green polished stone. Rich, deep greens layered with veins of amber, gold and teal. Rather than limiting it to a feature wall, we wrapped every surface - floor to ceiling, wall to wall. Your eye moves across the stone, drawn into its movement, its depth, its quiet drama. One material. Fully committed to.

The basin continues the idea. Clad in the same stone, it rises from the floor as though it was always part of the room. No ledge. No edge trim. No visual interruption. A wall-mounted Graff tap in brushed nickel keeps everything clean, while a brushed gold flush plate picks up the warmth of the amber veining, a detail so considered it feels like it was always meant to be there.

Small spaces give you permission to be bold. A material that might feel overwhelming across a large bathroom can feel exciting, even luxurious, in a cloakroom. That freedom is something we always encourage our clients to embrace.

Come and see what’s possible. Visit us in Putney or Guildford - we’d love to talk. 🖤
