LAPG Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards 2020 – Winners Announced.

I am even more proud that Tori Sicher of Sutovic & Hartigan Solicitors has been announced the winner in her category of Immigration & Asylum at the virtual awards ceremony. This is a wonderful achievement.

Anna Jones, the compere, read out tributes paid to Tori before announcing her as the winner:

“Tori has been at the forefront of challenging the Home Office over attempts to forcibly remove Iraqi asylum seekers who fear ill treatment if they are returned. Colleagues describe her as ‘relentless and the most unselfish lawyer I know.’ One says, ‘She changes lives, she holds the Home Office to account and she never wavers.’ A client says, ‘She treated me as a fellow human being and not just another problem.’ Another client says, ‘Tori saved my life. She had me released from detention and took me away from that hell. She never gave up on me.’ ”

Tori is described as clearly determined but also compassionate, qualities which her colleagues and clients know well.

Tori explained, “The work that I do, that all legal aid lawyers do, is so important and we put our hearts and souls into it. When you win and you help one person, a client, it just makes all the difference. That’s what keeps us going, to help each person one at a time and to make a difference in their lives.”

“…It warms the heart to know that you can make such a difference in their lives.”

Huge congratulations to Tori! It was a great evening of celebrations (socially distanced) with her top team of party celebrators.

LAPG Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards 2020

I am very proud to announce that Tori Sicher, solicitor with Sutovic & Hartigan since 2011, has been shortlisted as a finalist for this year’s Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards in the Immigration & Asylum category. This is a huge achievement by Tori and a tribute to her dedication. As a client has previously put it, “Tori, you are a legend.” So say all of us.

The winners will be announced at the virtual awards ceremony on the evening of 7th July 2020.
