This week’s Minute with me, Mala is about one of those slightly awkward little human moments I think many of us recognise…

You do something kind. Someone watches it happen. Then immediately says: “Oh my gosh, I do that too. I’m exactly the same.”

Except… they’re literally standing next to you not doing the thing.

Now look — this isn’t judgement. It’s observation. And honestly, I think those moments fascinate me because they reveal how much we all want to be seen as kind, thoughtful, generous or emotionally aware… even when our actions haven’t quite caught up yet.

And perhaps that’s why it creates that tiny internal cringe.

Because instinctively we know: there’s a difference between embodying something and announcing it.

But equally… maybe saying it is the first step towards becoming it.

Who knows.

That’s the thing about humans. We’re all wandering around trying to make sense of ourselves whilst quietly hoping nobody notices the contradictions.

And perhaps part of midlife is becoming more comfortable with the elephants in the room rather than pretending they aren’t tap dancing between us all.

So this week I’m gently poking at another one.

No judgement. Just observation. A little Mala humour. Plus a little humanity. And hopefully a reminder that awareness is often where growth quietly begins.
