After a great 4 day bank holiday week. The team were focused on a job consisting of modifying previously installed pipework.

We installed 3 solenoid valves on 3 of the clients flammable gases connected to their 28mm copper compressed air system with 1/4 stainless. The valves were connected to emergency stop buttons which when pushed, closes the valves to stop any gas continuing down the pipelines.

We also installed a ring main of compressed air, we joined the connections by brazing using our oxy acetylene ensuring that all our clients machinery gets the same amount of gas to work at a high standard.

Finally we installed a 5m length of unistrut vertically to extend a valved oxygen line which dropped into a regulator.

A few bits and bobs recently.

The team has been VERY occupied with a variety of jobs: Following a test an inspection, we changed some non return valves. Extended/modified some old gas pipelines to new outlet points.

Spent DAYS testing 4 systems: Acetylene, Oxygen and two Argon’s. The acetylene system was made out of 2 inch black iron installed many moons ago so had a lot of faults. When we first arrived, the drop rate was 20% within an hour, the team managed to massively reduce that and the client was super pleased.

Other than that, we’ve been here there and everywhere doing our annual test and inspection to keep us busy.

A small, single Nitrogen line for the client.

Today, the team tee’d into 8mm copper which we then installed a valve containing a 3/8 swagelok fitting in the bottom. The 3/8 stainless tube fed through a pre drilled hole by the client then clipped around the wall above ceiling height towards the outlet.

The outlet point was a 0-10 bar spectron regulator leading to a flow meter which then feeds to the equipment.

A small install at Johnson matthey.

The client wanted two of their lines extended across the ceiling and dropped into outlet points which will lead to machinery.

The team tee’d off the Co2 and O2 lines past the valves and extended the 1/2 inch pipes across the ceiling, we installed a valve on each line so the gas can be isolated without draining the system, squeezing through gaps and dropping into gasarc regulators. The install consisted of welding rather than Swagelok couplings to maintain flow and reduce the chances of leakage.

Day 2 VS Day 10.

Here is an idea of our completed products. One of our slightly bigger jobs involving 2 panels, 20 valves.

This is a gas isolation system making it accessible to stop gas from flowing through the system without draining the entirety.

We create these as another safety precaution to reduce the risk of a client mistakenly damaging the system.
