Ten years ago today

I dont normally post personal things here, Ten years ago today, I sustained my brain injury. It has been a journey of challenges, growth, setbacks, and successes, and one that continues to shape who I am.

I’m grateful that, with the right support, I’m still able to contribute, influence, and play an active role in society. That is a privilege I never take for granted.

Whatever you’re facing in life, please don’t face it alone. Support isn’t a weakness; it’s the thing that helps us rise, rebuild, and move forward.

There are too many people to name individually, but to everyone who has supported me: thank you. Your encouragement has helped me become more than I ever expected.

And to anyone who is struggling: reach out. Support will always benefit you.

Today Small Business Britain, with support from Xero launches The Maple Review UK Report: Exclusion and Enterprise: Entrepreneurship, Poverty and Breaking Down Barriers.

The Report is the result of intensive evidence gathering to really identify and dismantle the barriers to entrepreneurship caused by economic deprivation and ensure that enterprise accessible to everyone, regardless of starting point.

The Maple Review Report sets out eight practical recommendations for government, corporate partners and the business support community:

- Introduce National Public–Private Business Skills Guarantee for Secondary Schools
- Create a National Micro-Capital System for Asset-Poor Founders
- Reform Welfare-to-Enterprise Transitions
- Make Financial Confidence a Core Part of Enterprise Support
- Fund Digital Inclusion as Economic Infrastructure
- Invest in Long-Term Mentoring and Peer Networks
- Adopt Strengths-Based, Trauma-Informed Enterprise Support
- Target Enterprise Interventions at Those Most Excluded
