Our latest PEACEPLUS programme for Newry Mourne & Down District Council is hot off the press!

Weaving Our Past Into Our Future will combine demonstrations, hands on weaving workshops and a study visit.

The programme encourages participation from young people interested in finding out more about traditional skills.

Our Threads of History project for NMDs PEACEPLUS programme continued on Thursday morning in Newry & Mourne Museum at Bagenal’s Castle, Newry.

The morning included a very interesting talk and presentation on flax growing by local resident Leo Cullen and a visit to the Whitework & Flowering in the Mournes exhibit in the Museum.

Next week participants will start learning embroidery skills with our very talented tutor Una Curley.

This project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) - European Funding

Coming up soon our next PEACEPLUS programme is ‘Weaving Our Past Into Our Future’, which will be based in the Mournes DEA area.

Delighted to get our first FFK Solutions delivered programme for Newry Mourne & Down District Council’s PEACEPLUS programme off to a flying start.

Full house at Newry & Mourne Museum, Bagenal’s Castle, Newry for the launch event on Thursday morning for ‘Threads of History’ which explores the history of Whitework and Flowering in the Mournes, and includes talks, a study visit, and hands on embroidery workshop, culminating with a display of work produced in Newry & Mourne Museum.

Pictured with Bebhinn Clarke, Social Inclusion Officer with PEACEPLUS, are some of the 22 participants who have signed up and our embroidery tutor Una Curley.

We are delighted with the response to our Threads of History Programme which we are delivering for NMD PEACEPLUS in conjunction with NMD Museums

We have reached 75% capacity so there is still some availability if you are interested in being part of this programme.
