Indigro is an agricultural consultancy business based around a team of highly knowledgeable and motivated independent agronomists. With over 50 years of combined experience, we take pride in offering the most reliable and cost-effective advice to farmers, land agents and contractors in order to maximise output whilst minimising costs. Cropping advice covers all main arable, root and pulse crops as well as specialist planting on both arable and mixed enterprises. We also offer broader agricultural consultation services ranging from cultivation systems to nutrient management and regulatory advice. We conduct our own trials and research analysis to ensure our customers receive the most up to date information. And as all our agronomists are members of the Association of Independent Crop Consultants, we have no alliance to any manufacturer or distributor ensuring all our advice is as objective as it is reliable.

👋🏼 Meet the Team - Chloe

🌱 Background:
Chloe’s interest in agronomy started whilst working harvest jobs around school, before heading to Newcastle University to study Agriculture and Agronomy. Upon graduating, Chloe spent time travelling before beginning her career with Origin Fertilisers as a Technical Adviser.

She then spent three years at the National Farmers’ Union as Combinable Crops Policy Adviser, working out of Stoneleigh at headquarters. Whilst in this role, Chloe worked closely with members, supporting them through some very uncertain and challenging times - from Brexit and no deal scenarios to the beginning of Covid and what this meant for supply chains. Chloe also worked on chemical revocations, fertilisers and carbon, end markets, assurance schemes, environmental and future policy support.

Chloe then wanted to return to on-farm advice and joined us, where she could take a more active role in helping farmers navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.

We hear a lot of people within our industry talking about regenerative farming, so at our Winter Conference we decided to brainstorm what our version of regen farming looks like.

And this is where we landed…

The conversation was interesting, because “regenerative farming” can sometimes come with a bit of baggage.

For some farmers, it can feel like a label attached to a particular way of farming - and that’s not how we see it.

We don’t just position ourselves as a regenerative agronomy business. We’re integrated crop consultants.

That means looking at every part of the farm, understanding where the grower wants to go and working out which practices make sense to get there.

That could include:
🌱 No-till farming
🌱 Cover crops
🌱 Crop rotation
🌱 Livestock integration
🌱 Plant diversity
🌱 Appropriate cultivation

But it could also mean direct drilling in one situation and a different cultivation strategy in another. Because we’re not interested in following a prescribed system.

We’re interested in what works for your farm.

The right decision for the right field, the right rotation and the right business.

Perhaps that’s where the conversation around regenerative farming needs to change. It doesn’t have to be a label.

It can simply be about finding better ways to integrate the productive, environmental and natural elements of a farming system.

That’s our approach. Integrated, independent agronomy.

Harvest 2026 is proving one thing already... no two farms are telling the same story. 🌾

Across the UK, it’s shaping up to be a real mixed bag. While some growers are pleasantly surprised by yields, others are seeing the impact of a prolonged dry spring and repeated heatwaves.

The biggest takeaway so far? Location has mattered more than ever.

From what we’re seeing:
1. Better land has generally held up better, but many growers are still reporting yields below what they’d typically expect.
2. Lighter, drought-prone land has been hit hardest by the prolonged dry conditions.
3. Oilseed r**e has been a real success story on the whole, while barley has delivered fairly average results. Wheat, however, is proving to be below average in many areas.

We’ll be sharing a more detailed post-harvest analysis once the season is wrapped up, but for now we’re keen to hear from those in the cab...

🌱 Every farm is different, which is why there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

We’ve been fortunate to work alongside Will at Lowick Farm, in Kettering, over a number of years - helping build a farming approach that works for their business, their soils and their challenges.

“The Indigro strategy has never been to stick with one ideology, it’s do what’s right at the right time”.

From improving soil resilience to making the most of on-farm resources like compost, it’s been great to see the impact of a long-term approach and the results it can bring.

Next up in our Meet the Team series is Joe, one of our Agronomists here at Indigro.

🌱 Background:
Joe’s interest in agriculture developed through several harvest seasons before leaving school, followed by working across a range of farms in Australia during a year out. His experience included cotton, vintage gr**e and fresh produce enterprises, all with varying climatic challenges. Returning to the UK, Joe completed a degree in Agriculture with Crop Management at Harper Adams University, including a placement year working within the crop trials industry.

For the last 10 years, we've proudly run our own structured Agronomist Training Programme - something still relatively unique within the industry - with 7 of our agronomists successfully completing the programme to date.

The programme combines hands-on learning within the Indigro team alongside external BASIS and FACTS training, giving trainees experience across a wide range of farms, soils, cropping and farming systems.

While trainees become fully qualified after their first year, the second year focuses on developing deeper technical understanding, practical experience and confidence in the field.

We're incredibly proud of what the programme has achieved over the last decade and the talented agronomists who have come through it.
