Stroke recovery doesn't end when someone leaves hospital - for many families, that's when the real work begins.

This World Stroke Day, we're thinking of the everyday moments that make up a recovery journey: relearning a routine, regaining confidence with mobility, having someone patient in the room for the exercises that feel repetitive on the hard days. None of it happens overnight, and very little of it happens in a hospital ward.

That's where home care can make the difference. Not replacing the specialist support, but sitting alongside it. A familiar face who knows how today compares to last week, or someone to notice the small wins that are easy to miss when you're living them day to day. Providing gentle encouragement that doesn't feel like pressure.

If you're supporting a loved one through stroke recovery at home, or need some support yourself, we're glad to talk it through with you. Call your local blossom team for a friendly, no pressure conversation. 🌸

With the clocks going back, you can already feel the difference. The dark by half four now, and for a lot of older people living alone, that's when the day quietly starts to feel very lonely🍂

A short visit, at the right time of day, can be the difference between a long evening and a good one they look forward to. Not because it fixes everything, but because someone showed up.

If you're worried about a parent or loved one facing the darker months alone, we're glad to talk through what a bit of company, at the right time of day, could look like.🌸

What does a care plan look like in real life? A lot of families think home care means someone popping in for ten minutes to check that a loved one has taken their medication, then leaving again. But that isn’t care, and that isn't how we build a care plan.

As Olivia explained, every care plan we write is built around the person, their routines and what makes you feel like yourself.🏡

It starts with a conversation about how you actually live. What time you like to get up. Whether you'd rather shower or bath. Which neighbour you still ring on a Sunday. Then we shape the support around that: personal care, help with meals, a hand with medication, or simply company.

Tired of rushed visits, or not sure how we could support you? Contact our team today for a free, no-obligation conversation. 📞

Some reviews stop you in your tracks, and this one did. 💛

After a difficult experience with a previous care provider, this family got in touch with a member of their local Blossom team. One home assessment visit later, they'd made the switch. Months on, they both look forward to seeing their carers every day.

That's what we want for everyone we support. Carers who are friendly, kind and considerate, and who become a part of the day people look forward to.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It means the world to our team. 🌸

If you're unhappy with your current care, or just starting to look, your local Blossom team is here for a chat.

Finding a care plan that actually fits your family shouldn't feel like filling in a form and hoping for the best. 📝

Too many care plans are built around a generic checklist - the same visit times, the same tasks, regardless of who's actually receiving the care. That's not how we do it at Blossom. Every plan starts with a proper conversation in your own home, led by our experienced management team, so we understand not just what support is needed, but how your loved one actually likes their day to run. From there, we build a plan around their real routine: the times that suit them, the tasks which need to be done, along with the small things that make the biggest difference to how the day feels.

And because needs change, so does your care plan. Nothing is fixed in stone. We review and adjust as things move forward, so the care still fits, not just at the start, but as time goes on.

If you're ready to talk about what a bespoke Blossom care plan could look like for your family, we're only a message away.🏡

Mental health isn’t always visible.

Sometimes it looks like feeling lonely more often. Losing confidence after a fall. Finding everyday tasks more overwhelming than they used to be. Or simply not feeling quite like yourself.

For older people in particular, changes in health, mobility, routine or independence can have a real impact on emotional wellbeing.

That’s why support isn’t only about practical care.

It can also mean companionship, reassurance, conversation and helping someone feel more connected to the life around them.

This World Mental Health Day, check in with someone you care about - and remind them they don’t have to manage everything alone.💚

A fall can change everything in a moment.

For Sarah’s mum, a fractured hip meant going from living completely independently to suddenly needing support with almost every part of daily life.

That kind of change can be incredibly difficult, not just physically, but emotionally too. Over the months that followed, her care changed as she did. As her confidence slowly returned, her support was adapted around her progress, helping her to do more for herself while still knowing somebody was there when she needed them.

Five months on, Sarah says her mum is comfortable with the carers who visit, each bringing their own warmth, personality and professionalism. And for the family, perhaps the most important thing is knowing she is safe, supported and still able to be in her own home. 🌸

Thank you, Sarah, for taking the time to share such kind words about the team. It means a great deal to everyone involved in your mum’s care.💛

Choosing care for someone you love can feel like a big decision, especially when you’re trying to understand what each option actually means. 🏡

Home care and residential care can both provide valuable support, but the biggest difference is where that support happens.

With home care, support is built around the person in their own home. That can mean keeping familiar routines, staying close to neighbours, sleeping in your own bed, enjoying your own garden and continuing to live life in a way that still feels like yours.

Residential care offers a different type of support, with accommodation, meals and day-to-day care provided within a care home setting.

There isn’t one answer that’s right for everyone. The best choice depends on the person, the level of support they need, how safe they are at home and, importantly, what they want.

If you’re beginning to explore care for a parent, partner or loved one, you don’t need to have everything figured out straight away.

Sometimes, a simple conversation about what support might look like is the best place to start. 🌸

"They look after my elderly father extremely well... It is so reassuring for me to know there's someone there to help him and company for him on a daily basis."

The word, reassuring, comes up again and again. When you live far from a loved one, or you are juggling work and family, the not knowing is often the hardest part.

Daily visits mean someone is there. Someone who knows his routine, notices if something is different, and stays for a proper chat as well as the practical help.

Thank you to one of our lovely Cornwall clients for taking the time to share this. It means a great deal to the team. 🌸

Your heart has been working for you every single second of your life. Today feels like a good day to say thank you. ❤️

It is World Heart Day, and cardiovascular disease is still one of the biggest health risks we face as we get older. The reassuring part? Small, steady habits genuinely help.

🥗 A balanced plate, with a bit less salt
🚶 Gentle movement most days, even a short walk counts
💧 Plenty of fluids through the day
😴 Proper rest
🩺 Blood pressure and health checks kept up to date

It is also worth knowing the signs of heart problems in older people, because they are not always the dramatic chest pain we expect. Breathlessness, swollen ankles, unusual tiredness or a fluttering heartbeat all deserve a GP appointment.

Our carers help with the everyday bits that keep heart health on track, from nourishing meals to medication reminders and getting to appointments. 💚

What is one small thing you will do for your heart today?
