Even as Volunteers’ Week draws to a close, we still have more colleagues across our Group to celebrate for the time they dedicate to supporting their communities and making a real difference.

Amy French, from our Stafforce Ports team, volunteers weekly with her local Scouts group, where she serves as a Team Leader for the Beavers section. In this role, she helps young people aged 6 to 8 build important life skills through a wide range of engaging activities.

From hands-on projects like building bug hotels to encouraging participation in exciting challenges such as climbing and tomahawk throwing, Amy plays a key role in creating a fun and supportive environment for young people to learn and grow.

Amy’s volunteering goes beyond her local group. She also supports Humberside Scouts at a district level as a District Skills Instructor for water activities. During the busy summer months, she is part of the water activities team, teaching young people how to kayak and take part in stand up paddleboarding.

Scouting is a true family passion for Amy, with her family also actively involved and sharing her enthusiasm for giving back.

Amy’s ongoing commitment is a fantastic example of the positive impact volunteering can have on young people and the wider community.

Thank you, Amy, for everything you do 👏

As we move through Volunteers' Week, we’re continuing to celebrate colleagues across Nicholas Associates Group who are giving their time and skills to make a difference in their communities.

We are incredibly proud to share that Chloe Penty, Recruitment Consultant at Stafforce Ports, has begun her training with HM Coastguard, taking an inspiring step into a vital public service role.

Chloe has already completed the first stage of her training, gaining valuable insight into the wide range of situations the Coastguard responds to, as well as the importance of teamwork in protecting lives at sea. With over 30 hours of eLearning and several weeks of hands-on training ahead, this marks the beginning of an exciting and demanding journey.

We truly admire the commitment, courage and sense of service shown by individuals who support essential frontline organisations.

We wish Chloe every success as she continues her training and look forward to seeing all that lies ahead for her on this journey. 👏

As part of Volunteers' Week, we’re continuing to shine a light on colleagues across Nicholas Associates Group who are making a positive difference in their communities through volunteering.

Amy Ewens used her volunteering day to support Rotherham Holiday Aid, a fantastic local charity, of which members of our Group act as Trustees. The charity provides holidays and experiences for disadvantaged children and families in the community.

As part of her involvement, Amy supported the organisation of the Rotherham Holiday Aid Gala Dinner, bringing together local businesses, supporters, and partners to raise awareness and vital funds for the charity.

Following the success of the event, Amy Ewens and Rosie Taylor were also invited onto Radio Next to help highlight the important work Rotherham Holiday Aid carries out across the South Yorkshire region.

Events like this are instrumental in engaging the local community, increasing awareness, and supporting fundraising efforts that directly benefit children and families in need.

To date, the charity has donated over £50,000, helping families create meaningful memories together.

Amy shared how rewarding it is to be part of an initiative that has such a positive and lasting impact, and we couldn’t agree more.

Thank you, Amy and fellow trustees, for making a difference 👏

And we’re off!

As part of Humber Business Week, we’re proud to be hosting an interactive workshop in partnership with T2 - The People Performance People on How to Lead Across Generations Without the Friction.

It’s fantastic to welcome so many leaders from across the Humber for what promises to be a valuable and insightful morning.

This week, we’re proud to celebrate Volunteers' Week by shining a light on the incredible people across Nicholas Associates Group who give their time to support causes close to their hearts.

Whether it’s through using their dedicated volunteering day or going above and beyond in their own time, our colleagues are making a real difference in their local communities.

Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing their stories - highlighting the impact of volunteering and the personal motivations behind it. Let's start with Danielle McKenzie, Recruitment Consultant for Graduate Career Solutions.

Danielle used her volunteering day to support Sheffield Young Carers (SYC) - a charity that holds deep personal meaning for her, having been a young carer herself.

Driven by her own experience and the lasting impact SYC had on her life, Danielle is passionate about raising awareness of the vital role young carers play, and the challenges they face balancing responsibilities at home with education and wellbeing.

During her volunteering day, Danielle supported engagement with key partners, helping to secure valuable support for the charity, including:
💻 Laptops from the Seahorse Trust (the charitable arm of The Worshipful Company of Pewterers)
🎁 An incredible £850 donation from Chantrey Lodge, raised through their Christmas raffle

This funding and awareness are crucial in ensuring young carers are recognised early, supported effectively, and never overlooked.

Thank you, Danielle, for making such a meaningful difference 💙

One week to go until we host our interactive workshop for Humber Business Week.

If you’re leading a team right now, you’ll know the challenge - different perspectives, different expectations, different ways of working, all in the same room.

That diversity should be a strength. But without the right approach, it can just as easily lead to friction, misunderstandings and missed potential.

Next week, we’re creating space to tackle that head-on.

In partnership with T2 – The People Performance People, and hosted by Rich McCarthy, this workshop is built for real-world leadership - not theory. We’ll be exploring simple, practical ways to strengthen day-to-day interactions, build trust across teams, and get the best from people at every stage of their career.

Expect an interactive session, open discussion, and tools you can take straight back into your workplace.

If you’re joining us, we’re looking forward to it.

Learning at work isn’t just about what you learn - it’s about how you use it.

Anna, our Payroll Officer, is currently working towards a Payroll Specialist Certificate alongside her role.

By developing her technical knowledge, Anna is building confidence in handling more complex payroll queries and strengthening her understanding of her role within the wider team.

It’s a great example of how learning can have an immediate impact - something that sits at the heart of this year’s Learning at Work Week theme, Many Ways to Learn.
