The detail most electricians skip…and why it matters

Fitted this Ohme Home Pro straight into the garage with the consumer unit tucked out of sight, which meant working around an awkward meter box just to get the screws in.

But here's the bit people don't think about: I didn't cut the fly lead short.

Why? Because if this customer ever wants to move the charger, new car, new spot on the wall, whatever, he's not stuck with a lead that's too short to reach.

A small decision now, saves a headache later.

Coffee first. Loft crawl second. Charger third ☕

Some installs test your patience before they test your skills 😅

This was a proper loft job, running cable from one end to the other through a tight, awkward space…

Could've crawled through it myself, but the customer jumped in to help run it through, which made the whole thing smoother and honestly more enjoyable.

That's the kind of job I love! working with the customer, not just for them.

Yesterday was a good one! ⚡🙌

Great to spend the day at Andersen EV HQ for their Affiliate Day! meeting the team behind the brand, getting a look around the factory and hearing more about what’s coming next.

As installers, we normally only see the finished charger arriving on site, so seeing what goes on behind the scenes was pretty cool 👀

Plenty of good conversations, ideas shared and a few things to take back to Electrics and More as we continue growing the EV side of the business.

Thanks to the Andersen team for having us! and great to meet some of the other installers in the network too! 🤝⚡

How on earth are you going to get a charger from there… to THERE? 😅

This one wasn't quick or simple, 30 meters of cable running from the back of the property to the front, ducting through 15 meters of bushes, a fence panel off just to get access, and a wall almost 1 meter thick that needed drilling clean through.

The kind of job other electricians take one look at and pass on. We don't. We planned it, ran it, clipped it in, and got it certified, no shortcuts!

He's gone for the Hypervolt tethered, 5m lead, in a colour that actually suits the house.The Car hasn't arrived yet, but the second it does, he's plugging straight in⚡️

He'd pretty much decided to use us before he'd even called. 👀

Before Saeed even picked up the phone, he'd already seen our work, reviews on Facebook, installs online, word getting round. That's the bit I'm proud of!

We fitted his Andersen untethered in Midnight, kept the wiring clean and tucked away, and honestly finished quicker than he expected. No mess left behind, no half-finished job, no chasing us for updates. Just tidy, professional work from start to finish.

Now his BYD Seal's ready for the school run, the motorway, and a trip to London with the kids! 😅

If you're already generating your own electricity, it makes sense to have an EV charger that can actually take advantage of it.

That's one of the reasons we like fitting Zappi.

It can work alongside your home's solar setup and help you make better use of the energy you're generating! rather than treating your EV charger as a completely separate bit of kit.

But is it the best charger for everyone?

Not necessarily. And that's the important bit.

We'd rather recommend the charger that suits your car, your home and how you actually use your energy than simply fit whatever charger happens to be popular.

You bought the EV. Now you just need a charger… right?

That’s what most first-time EV owners think.

Pick the car.
Pick the charger.
Get someone to put it on the wall.

But there’s one part you probably haven’t thought about yet.

Your home.

Before that charger starts pulling power for hours at a time, we need to know the electrical installation behind it is ready.

Is the consumer unit suitable?
Is the supply adequate?
Is the correct protection in place?
