Career Development Institute

Career Development Institute We opened our doors on 1st April 2013. Our new Institute will be building on the very best of the joint offers from each of the four predecessor bodies.

The CDI is the new single UK-wide professional organisation for all working in all fields of career education; career information, advice and guidance; career coaching and career consultancy. The CDI is the new single UK-wide professional organisation for everyone working in the fields of career education; career information, advice and guidance; career coaching and career management. It had been

the goal for many years of the founding bodies - ACEG; ACPi-UK; ICG and NAEGA - to join together and create a single voice for the Career Development sector. The key aims being to ensure a sound networking approach between practitioners, inspire confidence in those who seek help in moving into and through their working life and provide support to members in the delivery of high quality career development services. Working together the new body will present a strong and united front, influencing government policy and lobbying on behalf of members. Pivotal to the success of our new organisation will be the engagement of members (see Member Benefits)

To keep you informed of developments the CDI Board publish regular Briefing Notes (see News and Reports). Please share these with colleagues working in the sector. Members can also access resources and reports through the Member's Area of the website. We are pleased that the Government has supported the development of a new Register of Career Development Professionals and we encourage all practising career development professionals to join the CDI and the Register. It is our ambition that the Register will become the single most important source of information for employers and individuals seeking your services.

Don't forget to share your views on Technical Education Pathways

We’re inviting careers advisers who provide one-to-one guidance to students aged 11-18 in England to take part in a short survey as part of an independent evaluation of the CDI Technical Education Programme, conducted by York Consulting.

The survey will explore your awareness, understanding and confidence in discussing technical education pathways, as well as your experiences of CDI resources and support.

The survey takes around 10-12 minutes to complete, and all responses will be anonymous and confidential.

👉Take the survey now: https://zurl.co/6LT7H

Your insights will help inform future support for careers professionals and contribute to understanding the impact of the CDI Technical Education Programme.

Today's young people have more choices than ever before. While that's exciting, it can also feel overwhelming.

That's why high-quality careers guidance matters. It helps young people understand their options, explore different pathways and make informed decisions that are right for them.
