From Stadiums to Boardrooms: The Science of Emotional Contagion.
At the time of publication, we are immersed in the furore of the football World Cup. So why is our behaviour more extreme at these times? We’ve all seen the images of fans caught in the delirium of happiness or emotionally broken by defeat. But how strange would this look if we were the only person reacting this way?

One of the greatest mistakes we make is judging people from a distance simply because we do not understand their experience.

In our work with neurodivergent individuals and those managing anxiety disorders, we continue to see remarkable people facing extraordinary internal challenges whilst trying to live ordinary lives.

We still have a long way to go:
• Waiting lists remain extensive
• Support services are overstretched
• Misunderstanding and stigma persist
• Too many people feel isolated in workplaces and society

But awareness can change outcomes.

When organisations and leaders take time to understand neurodivergence properly, they create environments where people feel supported rather than scrutinised and where talent can truly flourish.
Compassion, education, and informed leadership are not optional extras.

They are becoming essential components of healthy workplace culture.

One of the growing risks of AI is not bad technology but lazy thinking.

We are becoming increasingly tempted to throw difficult intellectual work over the fence to AI and assume that what comes back is reliable because it sounds convincing.

But sounding intelligent and being insightful are not the same thing.

I’m seeing more and more AI-generated narratives that resemble a beautifully iced cake: visually impressive, structurally disappointing.

Professionals should remember:
Your experience, judgement, intuition, and domain expertise still matter enormously.

Use AI to support thinking, not replace it.

We recently had one of the most valuable sessions in our Workplace Investigation series. Not because we shared our process. But because someone from the other side explained exactly how he unpicks it.

Nathan Vidini, founder of AltraLaw, the UK's first not-for-profit law firm, joined us to share what he looks for when he's representing the employee. After 20 years doing this, he knows where investigations fall apart.

Here's what we learned.

Happening tomorrow!

Most workplace investigation training is designed from one perspective: the employer’s. Our upcoming webinar takes a different approach.

We’ll explore investigations through both the employer and employee lens, examining common pitfalls, what creates perceptions of unfairness, and how to build processes that are balanced, credible, and defensible.

Joining us are Nathan Vidini of AltraLaw and Victoria Hall to discuss:
• Fairness issues employees and their lawyers look for
• Avoiding the appearance of predetermination
• Common evidence gathering mistakes
• Practical steps to strengthen trust
• Real-life case studies

Designed for HR professionals, ER leads, managers, and founders, this session highlights that good investigations are human, balanced, and evidence-led.

• Avoiding the appearance of predetermination

Many employers still assume trade union reforms only matter if they already recognise a union.

That assumption could become a costly mistake.

From October 2026, two significant changes under the Employment Rights Act 2025 will affect every employer, including organisations with no history of union engagement.

Employers will need to:
• Respond appropriately to statutory trade union access requests
• Inform employees of their right to join a trade union
• Ensure managers understand the legal and practical implications
• Review employee relations risks before issues escalate

These reforms are part of a wider policy direction aimed at increasing union visibility and reducing barriers to organisation.

For employers, the key question is not whether unions are good or bad. The key question is whether your organisation is prepared.

The employers who manage these changes best will be those who act early, review their internal processes, and strengthen communication and trust within their workforce before October arrives.
