📸 Step back in time with 'South Crofty 1997'
We're delighted to share details of a unique photography exhibition by renowned photographer George Wright, featuring photographs taken underground at South Crofty during a pivotal moment in the mine's history.
In 1997, George Wright and writer James Crowden visited South Crofty at a time of great uncertainty for the mine and its workforce. The powerful images captured during that one-day visit documented life half a mile underground just months before the mine's closure in 1998. While some of the photographs were published in 'The Wheal of Hope', this is the first time the collection has ever been exhibited.
