What exactly is going on at eBay?

We’re a Top Rated Seller.
We won an eBay for Business Award in 2024.
We pay eBay nearly £6,000 per month in fees.

And this is how small businesses get treated?

First, eBay made selling industrial bandsaws almost impossible under their “Weapons & Knives” policy.

Let’s be clear.

We sell workshop machinery.
Engineering equipment.
Bandsaws for cutting steel in fabrication shops
Not weapons.
Not knives.
Not combat gear.

A 400kg industrial machine bolted to a workshop floor is not a weapon — it’s how British engineering businesses earn a living.

That policy hit us straight in the pocket.

Now we’ve been told payments will be placed on hold until delivery is confirmed.
Sounds simple? It isn’t.

We ship heavy machinery and pallets through freight carriers that do not integrate with eBay tracking systems.

So what does this mean?

• We dispatch machinery
• We pay delivery upfront
• We wait
• And wait
• And potentially wait 30 days to be paid
On high-value machinery.

Cashflow matters in engineering. Margins aren’t Amazon margins.

We’re being forced to fund delivery and stock while eBay sits on our money.

For a platform that claims to support small business — this feels like the opposite.

We’ve built our reputation properly:
✔ Outstanding business account
✔ Top Rated Seller status
✔ Excellent feedback
✔ Award-winning performance

And yet we’re treated like a risk.

eBay — we want answers.

Why are legitimate engineering businesses being penalised?

Why are industrial tools categorised alongside weapons?

Why are compliant, award-winning sellers being placed under blanket payment holds?

Support small businesses properly.

Stop making it harder for British engineering companies to trade.

We’re proud of what we do.

We’re proud of our customers.

But this isn’t good enough.
