The Carnage of Venice’ Vogalonga 50th Celebration🇮🇹

Just shy of 3,000 crews entered the vogalonga. A sight to see, utter mayhem. Lots of coxed quads and fours, the odd double or pair, Lots of dragon boats , kayaks , Venetian rowing boats, you name it , anything that floats was there , all waiting for the start cannon.

Off we all set, in what can only be described as a wacky races of waving in and out of each other to funnel down into a narrow stream of boats in a procession around the lagoon.

As soon as we all got going it was a strong pace to try to get to the front of the pack, so as to not get stuck in traffic getting back into the grand canal right at the end of the 32k race. We had a strong crew and overtook somewhere between three hundred and four hundred boats. Many of which had started before the cannon! As we got to thelast 6k there was very little in front of us, the last 1k it was just us and a couple of other boats in sight!

Coming back into the grand canal our prirate themed boats got lots of cheers and pirate comments which were warmly welcome as everything ached by now. We ended up with a sprint over the last five hundred from a strong all male German quad. Our on the bank spectators group had said we had arrived about fifth over the line which we were pretty pleased about. To then finally collapse as we got over the line.

Followed by Lots and lots of beers to quench the heat of the hot sun.

Thoroughly enjoyable - If you ever get the chance to do the Vogalonga in Venice , I would strongly say deffo do it. Some great lifetime memories you will make as well as friends.

EVESHAM REGATTA🔵🟡⚪️

Two great days spent at the Evesham Regatta for Worcester Rowing Club🌞

Saturday provided stunning weather for the 1000m races and after many prayers that night we were so lucky to have good weather today and the 500mm sprint events.

Big well done to our masters…another win for them!!🥇

As for the juniors they rowed brilliantly and produced many wins in the heats only to loose by the slightest of margins in the finals.. which although a bit frustrating, has given encouragement for them to train more, now that the end goal is within reach! Overall, the juniors came away with a handful of pots along with a load of great memories.

Well done ALL 👏

Brilliant day at Birmingham Regatta for the Worcester Rowing Club Juniors🥇

The weather was absolutely fantastic providing an incredible backdrop to the day. Many of the juniors were competing for the first time or trying new events.🌞

As a warmup to the season it was superb giving the juniors a haul of 8 medals🥇.The final juniors race of the day was the WJ15 quad against RGS which was an absolute nail biter with RGS leading for nearly all of the race when Worcs turned up the gas and just took it on the line - very stressful 🫣

Onto the next regatta!📣

Whether you’re an experienced rower or wanting to try something new, there is a place for you at WRC 🌟

Our Senior Women’s squad have always had a strong history of racing; bringing home HWR wins, making top finals at events such as Wallingford & Met Regattas. This season the women made club history with the VIII qualifying for the Wargrave at HRR, winning the Asp Lwt 1x at HWR and continuing their high level performance at the nations biggest events 🏆

The Senior Men have a long history of high performance, winning events at HRR, placing high at HORR, Wallingford, Met and Marlow Regattas. They are continually growing and developing, seeking to add to this history in the coming years 💪🏼

Our performance masters squads are also bringing in regular wins at events such as Masters Brit Champs, Henley Masters and regularly competing at Worlds Rowing Masters Regatta overseas! This season saw a particularly impressive set of results from the Masters Women with a win at Masters HORR, 4 golds at Masters Brit Champs, and a win at Henley Masters 😮‍💨

Our Development squads are a fantastic entry point for those with some previous experience. Whether you want to race regularly at the local Heads and Regattas, enjoy recreational rowing, or maybe you are looking to ignite an old passion, this is a great place to get started 🌞

The novice squads and GoRow courses are available throughout the year and are a super friendly and welcoming bunch for anyone looking to get into rowing or coxing. Open to adults of any age and ability, come and try something new! 🪴

Last but not least, our wonderful junior squad! Accepting ages 12-18 of any ability. Many of our juniors have taken up rowing for enjoyment, fitness and wellbeing but to be perfectly honest, as soon as they get in a boat and push off from the landing stage, their competitive spirit takes over 🚣🏼‍♂️
