🐂 York Auction Centre Store Market - 18th June
A steady day around the ring today with a show of 38 Store cattle and 16 Calves 💼. With many farmers out silaging or attending the Royal Highland show & Lincolnshire Show , we’ve seen a quieter market today .
Trade has been back slightly today compared to last week, however there was still a quality selection of well-bred cattle on offer. Buyers were less competitive around the ring this week, with demand appearing more subdued than in recent sales. This may be due to many purchasers already having yards and fields well stocked or are focusing on their arable work this upcoming summer.
Cattle forward comprised a mix of well-fleshed animals nearing prime market condition, together with lighter-weight, well framed cattle ideally suited to summer grazing. LIMX cattle were the predominant breed on offer today .
Heifers averaged £1,568.21 per head which is a 10% increase from last week and steers averaged £1,677.50 per head which is a 6% decrease from last week ⭐
Today , Steers sold to £2030 per head , Heifers sold to £1960 and Bulls sold to £1805
⚡️ Leading the trade today once again was a well fleshed BRB steer which topped the market at £2030 from Mr B Basham 🐮
Top price in the calf ring today was a Steer Stirk making £1110 from G R & S Atkinson
A huge thank you to all vendors, purchasers and supporters who attended today’s sale – your continued support is greatly appreciated 👏
It was a pleasure to welcome students and staff from Bishop Burton College to York Auction Centre today. They enjoyed a tour of the market, gained an insight into how our livestock sales operate, and had the opportunity to watch the sale in action. We hope they found the visit both informative and enjoyable, and we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.
