Does height matter in dating? Ask a matchmaker and the answer is yes, more than people expect.

Every dealbreaker on a list costs you something, and most of them you only find out about much later.

Height is the one you can check from a photograph, so it gets checked FIRST and the rest of him never gets a turn.

I am not going to argue anyone out of what they want. I would just rather you knew what the trade was.

A client turned down every man I sent her, so I hired a recruiter.

She wants an intellectual. That’s the whole list, and she means it.

My usual search wasn’t getting there, so I built her a different one. Normally I start with people I already know are single, then look at who they are. For her we are doing it the other way round. The recruiter finds intellectuals, and then we find out which of them are single.

It is SLOWER. She is also more hopeful than she has been since we started.

Every good thing in your life came from an introduction.

Your job. Your closest friend. Somebody who knew you made the call.

Dating is the one part people expect to do alone, among strangers.

He asked for women in their early 30s, but THEY said he was too old.

When a client tells me the age range he wants, I go and look for exactly that.

Then I find out whether those women are interested in HIM, and this time almost NONE of them were.

Does it matter where your partner went to college? My client ended our work together over Florida State.

He was six feet tall, a banker, with his own apartment and car. He said the date went well. His degree was the problem.

I have matched singles across Israel and North America for years, and the patterns are consistent once you know what to look for. Israelis tend to move quickly and say what they think. American Jews tend to pace things out and soften how they say it. Both sides keep misreading the other, and it is almost always a cultural gap rather than a character flaw.

You can filter dating apps for height, age and distance, but you cannot filter for the one thing that matters.

Every marriage-minded single I speak to has the same story about the apps. Deleted them, re-downloaded them, gave them one more honest try, and it still felt like work that went nowhere.

That is worth taking off your own shoulders. The apps are doing exactly what they were built to do, and getting you married was never it.
