From Policy to Practice: Advancing Gender Equality in Maritime
The event was organised by the National Maritime Day Celebrations Committee under the aegis of the Directorate General of Shipping, India , Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and held at the Maritime Training Institute,
Shipping Corporation of India - Maritime Training Institute Powai, Mumbai.
The programme brought together key dignitaries, maritime leaders, cadets, institutions, and industry stakeholders to reaffirm the sectorโs collective commitment towards gender equality, inclusion, and the advancement of women in maritime.
A key highlight of the event was the Sagar Mein Samman video, along with the recognition of women trailblazers from the maritime industry whose journeys continue to inspire change, representation, and progress.
The event also marked an important milestone with the unveiling of a five-year agenda for the Sagar Mein Samman Task Force, aimed at strengthening the pathway from policy intent to meaningful implementation across the maritime ecosystem.
