Pleased to share that my abstract, “Towards a Responsibility Culture: A Conceptual Framework for Advancing Gender Equality Beyond Duty, Accountability and Compliance,” has been accepted for presentation at the 11th International Conference of Early Career Researchers with a Gender Perspective, organised by the University of Burgos.
I will present the contribution online on 3 September 2026, during the panel Regulation and Institutional Responses.
The paper introduces Responsibility Culture as a conceptual framework for advancing gender equality beyond formal compliance. It explores how institutions can move from fulfilling prescribed duties towards embedding responsibility within their organisational culture, decision-making processes and everyday practices.
This presentation represents another important step in the development of the RESC framework and in connecting responsibility culture with gender equality and institutional transformation.

What if the most important question about Artificial Intelligence were not how much more it enables us to produce, but what kind of human capacities it allows us to preserve and develop?

I am pleased to share my article, “Beyond Productivity: Cognitive Sustainability, Creative Freedom and the Social Role of Artificial Intelligence”, published in the Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics.

The article introduces the concept of cognitive sustainability: the capacity to integrate AI into human activities without weakening critical thinking, creativity, autonomy and meaningful participation.

AI can reduce repetitive work and expand access to knowledge. However, if its value is assessed exclusively through efficiency and productivity, we risk overlooking its deeper social and cognitive consequences.

The central argument is that technological progress should create space for human reflection, imagination and responsibility—not replace them. This requires moving beyond a purely performance-oriented understanding of AI towards a human-centred approach grounded in long-term cognitive and social well-being.

Over the past few months, an important part of my doctoral journey has been taking shape through RESC – Responsibility Culture.

RESC emerged from a question that runs through my research: what happens when responsibility is no longer understood merely as an obligation, compliance with rules or the attribution of blame, but as a human, cultural and social capacity that can be developed?

From this perspective, I am building a framework that connects responsibility with social transformation, gender equality, leadership, artificial intelligence and decision-making. It begins with academic research but is intended to engage institutions, organisations and civil society.

The different strands of this work are progressively finding their place within the international academic debate. Several abstracts have already been accepted for presentation at international conferences, creating valuable opportunities to discuss the RESC framework across different disciplines, cultural contexts and academic communities.

This is an important step, because a theoretical proposal truly develops when it is discussed, questioned and tested through dialogue. RESC is therefore both part of my doctoral research and a broader cultural initiative: a space for developing a renewed culture of responsibility capable of reconnecting power, decisions and their human consequences.

This research journey is still evolving, but the interest it is receiving from international conferences is a meaningful encouragement to continue.

Promoting a new ethic of responsibility, democratic accountability and human-centered governance.

I am very pleased to share that the abstract of my paper, “Beyond Compliance: Reframing Responsibility for Gender-Equitable Artificial Intelligence Systems,” has been accepted for an oral presentation at the 13th International Conference on Gender and Women’s Studies 2026.

The conference will take place at Deakin University in Melbourne on 14–15 September 2026 and will mark my first international conference as a doctoral researcher.

My paper questions whether audits, checklists and certification schemes are sufficient to make AI systems genuinely gender-equitable. It argues that responsibility cannot be reduced to compliance with external rules: it also requires the ability to recognise the boundaries between human judgement and automated decision-making, particularly when we ask who makes decisions and who remains accountable for them.

Drawing on gender studies, leadership theory and social innovation, the paper introduces the emerging concept of Responsible Societal Culture – RESC, which understands responsibility as a collective and cultural process rather than an individual or institutional checkbox.

I am particularly happy that this new stage of my doctoral journey will begin in Melbourne, through an international discussion connecting gender equality, artificial intelligence and responsibility.

I am pleased to share this recent publication, which explores the relationship between artificial intelligence, data analytics, and responsibility.

As AI continues to transform our societies, the real question is no longer what technology can do, but how we choose to develop, govern, and use it. Innovation without responsibility cannot create sustainable progress.

This is also the foundation of my ongoing work with REsc – Responsibility Culture, where I explore responsibility not as mere compliance or obligation, but as a fundamental human capacity that should guide decision-making, leadership, research, and innovation.

Congratulations to the authors for their contribution to this important area of research.

I believe we are living through a profound crisis.

Not only an economic crisis, or a political one.

A **crisis of responsibility**.

Somewhere along the way, we have lost its meaning, its value and its roots. Today, more than ever, we need to rediscover it—and, for many, perhaps discover it for the first time.

Throughout my professional and personal life, I have often found myself in conflict because of this belief. At times I have been perceived as difficult, uncompromising, even argumentative. Those who know me well understand that it has never been about conflict. It has always been about responsibility.

I have met extraordinary people, but I have also met people who exercised power without fully understanding the responsibility that comes with it. Too often, decisions are made and words are spoken without awareness of their consequences.

**Words are performative. They shape trust, relationships, institutions and lives. We should never use them carelessly.**

Responsibility is not simply about duty or compliance. It is something deeper. It is a conscious relationship between freedom, power and the consequences of our actions.

This is why I created **RESC – Responsibility Culture**.

Not as a project, but as an invitation to rethink one of the most fundamental values of our societies.

If we want to build a better future—for people, for institutions and for Artificial Intelligence—we must begin by rebuilding a culture of responsibility.

The platform is freely accessible in multiple languages because I believe this conversation belongs to everyone.
