Da qui si vede tutto: i filari, la valle, le montagne che chiudono l'orizzonte.
Il trattore fa la sua strada, noi facciamo la nostra.
Un vigneto non lo capisci in un giorno, lo capisci restandoci.
E ogni anno ti sembra di conoscerlo un po' meglio.

From here you see everything: the rows, the valley, the mountains closing the horizon.
The tractor takes its path, we take ours.
You don't understand a vineyard in a day, you understand it by staying.
And every year you feel you know it a little better.

C'è una vendemmia che nessuno racconta: la luce che entra storta dalla finestra, i tubi da srotolare, l'acciaio che aspetta.
Il vino nasce anche in questi passi avanti e indietro sul pavimento bagnato.
Domani si ricomincia prima del sole.

There is a harvest no one tells about: the light coming crooked through the window, hoses to unroll, steel that waits.
Wine is born in these steps back and forth across a wet floor, too.
Tomorrow we start again before the sun.

La divisa, il vetro, gli sguardi che controllano.
L'imbottigliamento è l'unico momento in cui il vino sta fermo e siamo noi a girargli intorno.
Ogni bottiglia passa sotto due occhi prima di uscire da qui.
Poi la cantina torna in silenzio.

The shirt, the glass, the eyes that check.
Bottling is the one moment when the wine stands still and we move around it.
Every bottle passes under two pairs of eyes before it leaves here.
Then the cellar goes quiet again.

Il Pinot Nero cambia colore, e la pianta si legge tutta.
Ogni braccio è dove doveva essere: la potatura secondo il metodo Simonit&Sirch lascia respirare il legno e la vite ci ringrazia anno dopo anno.
Adesso tocca all'invaiatura fare il suo lavoro.
Noi guardiamo e aspettiamo.

Pinot Noir is changing colour, and you can read the whole plant.
Every arm sits where it should: pruning with the Simonit&Sirch method lets the wood breathe, and the vine pays us back year after year.
Now véraison does its part.
We watch and wait.

Ci sono giorni che non si raccontano, si fanno.
Si comincia col buio e si finisce con le mani appiccicose di mosto.
In mezzo, poche parole e molte cassette.
Poi diventano vino.

Some days you don't tell, you do.
They start in the dark and end with your hands sticky with must.
In between, few words and a lot of crates.
Then they turn into wine.

Chardonnay, cassetta dopo cassetta.
Grappoli raccolti quando l'aria è ancora fresca, portati interi fino alla pressa perché nulla vada perso della loro mattina.
Quello che oggi scende nel tino lo ritroveremo tra qualche anno, dentro un bicchiere.

Chardonnay, crate after crate.
Picked while the air is still cool, carried whole to the press so that nothing of their morning is lost.
What flows into the tank today we will find again years from now, in a glass.

Un respiro alla volta.
La linea gira lenta, ogni bottiglia passa sotto la tappatrice e per un attimo si chiude su se stessa.
Da qui in poi parla solo il tempo.

One breath at a time.
The line turns slowly, each bottle passes under the capper and for a moment closes in on itself.
From here on, only time speaks.

Ci hanno detto che erano troppo giovani.
Poi sono arrivate le analisi: acidità tesa, zuccheri contenuti, maturazione uniforme. Il profilo che serve a un Metodo Classico, alla prima vendemmia.
Il merito è di come queste viti sono state cresciute — potatura ramificata secondo il metodo Simonit & Sirch, un taglio alla volta, pensando alla pianta e non alla stagione.
Le viti giovani non sono un limite. Sono un inizio fatto bene.

They told us the vines were too young.
Then the analyses came in: taut acidity, restrained sugars, even ripening. Exactly the profile a Metodo Classico calls for — at the very first harvest.
The credit goes to how these vines were raised: branched pruning following the Simonit & Sirch method, one cut at a time, thinking about the plant rather than the season.
Young vines aren't a limitation. They're a well-made beginning.
