Fire safety is not an activity that wait on any government to legislate, it's a community endevour that mirror the attitude and actions of each community member. Therefore, fire brigade's are community organizations, and in that context and reality, the fire brigade have to lead in the shaping of safe community enviroments that foster not just an idea of safety but a feel and sense of safety. It's the fire brigade role and responsibility to SAVE LIVE , PREVENT THE DISTRUCTION OF PROPERTY and RENDER HUMANITARIAN SERVICES. I therefore call upon the Jamaica Fire Brigade, who is the sole fire authority of Jamaica to consider and impliment with any modification that would be required to feasable.
How does the fire authority ( Jamaica Fire Brigade), maintain, test or demonstrate competency?
In fire safety design, maintenance, inspections, modifications and repair of fire safety equipment or system.
(A) Fire safety log book for each premises?
(B) CPD for all employees involved in all areas of fire safety practices each year?
(C) Legal responsibility of each service company?
(D) Check the competency of the service company employees?
(E) Decided who is a competent person to design, inspect, install, maintain, or repair fire safety equipment or system?
(F) Determine who does fire risk assessment?
I think the fire authority need to answer these pertinent questions, because in any serious analysis or fire investigation, these are some of issues or questions that will need to be explore and possibly answer legally in a court of law. To determine culpability, negligence or neglect on the part of property owners or maintenance manager or engineers.
