Mit großer Freude gibt das Haus Wittelsbach die Geburt von Prinzessin Sophia bekannt, der Tochter von Prinz Corbinian und Prinzessin Magdalena von Bayern.

Prinzessin Sophia, die Ende März zur Welt gekommen ist, hat am Christi-Himmelfahrts-Wochenende das Sakrament der Taufe empfangen.

Die Eltern bedanken sich sehr für die vielen herzlichen Glück- und Segenswünsche zur Geburt ihrer Tochter.

I think in past times it was simply called setting the table for lunch 🍴. Now the word tablescape is much used - but in any case it is about taking time out for friends - to welcome them, to enjoy lunch - slowly... slow time… 😊

A present to them and being in the present with them 🫶🏼 - that is what makes a day a good day🌞

Estratto da un'intervista al Principe Aimone in Russia di qualche anno fa.

Aimone di Savoia Aosta vive in Russia da oltre un quarto di secolo, parla fluentemente il russo e dirige la sede russa dell'azienda italiana Pirelli .
In un'intervista alla rivista automobilistica russa "5 Koleso", il Principe italiano ha raccontato come è arrivato a vivere in Russia e perché vi è rimasto per 25 anni.
Osservando il suo albero genealogico, sembrerebbe logico che il suo percorso professionale sarebbe stato in qualche modo diverso. Quale professione avevano immaginato i tuoi genitori per lei?

Aimone di Savoia:
È difficile rispondere a questa domanda. Il fatto è che mio padre è nato sotto una monarchia e per lui la forma di servizio alla Patria era predeterminata. Non so come immaginasse il mio futuro: sono nato nell'Italia repubblicana. Che mi piaccia o no, è un dato di fatto. Allo stesso tempo, non sto parlando del sistema; io servo l'Italia, non la Repubblica. Tuttavia, due anni fa ho ricevuto un'onorificenza cavalleresca dal governo repubblicano e per me è un grande onore. È interessante notare che, durante la cerimonia di premiazione, l'ambasciatore italiano in Russia ha sottolineato che, nella mia persona, sono stato il primo membro della famiglia Savoia a ricevere un'onorificenza dal governo della Repubblica.

È stato simbolico ricevere il premio a giugno, visto che proprio nel giugno del 1946 la famiglia reale lasciò il paese. Sono certamente orgoglioso di questo alto riconoscimento, ma... in fondo, rimango un monarchico. Guardate come se la cavano, sia politicamente che economicamente, Spagna, Gran Bretagna, Danimarca, Olanda, Svezia e Norvegia, paesi con una Monarchia.

Happy 80th birthday, Dame Joanna Lumley. A true British icon.

On 1st May, Dame Joanna turned 80 and remains every inch the national treasure.

Long before a new generation adored her as the endlessly quotable Patsy Stone in Absolutely Fabulous, she had already built a remarkable career as a model, Bond girl in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, starred opposite James Bond, appeared in Coronation Street and became iconic as glamorous secret agent Purdey in The New Avengers.

Her influence extends far beyond television. In 2008, Dame Joanna Lumley became the public face of the campaign securing settlement rights for Gurkha veterans who served in the British Army before 1997, a cause deeply personal to her family as her father served in the 6th Gurkha Rifles.

She was appointed OBE in 1995 and later made a DBE in 2022 for services to drama, entertainment and charitable causes.

In recent years, audiences have continued to follow her adventures through her much-loved travel documentaries, which began with Girl Friday, where she spent nine days on an uninhabited island off Madagascar armed with little more than resilience, wit and impeccable humour. Her enduring travel advice? Roll your clothes when packing and you will never need to iron.

And proving she has no intention of slowing down, she recently returned to screens in Amandaland, the spin-off of Motherland, with series two released this week.
