Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 and for several decades its history has been marked by innovation and respect for tradition. Producing and selecting the best grapes together with systematic knowledge of the terroir, Ramos Pinto is pioneering the launch of New Douro wines in Portugal and all over the world. In the quest for excellence, Ramos Pinto is still, to this day, managed as an independent or

ganization, which enables the pursuit of its extraordinary politics of own production and continuous technical and technological research. Ramos Pinto owns four estates in the Douro. Quinta do Bom Retiro and Quinta da Urtiga, in the heart of the region; Quinta dos Bons Ares and Quinta de Ervamoira in the Upper Douro. Our commitment is to improve our bond with nature and the environment through organic farming and increasing biodiversity, leaving this legacy of culture to future generations. On Portugal Day, we celebrate the history, identity, and symbols that define our country.
This historic Ramos Pinto label, inspired by King Afonso Henriques and Portugal’s national heritage, reflects a time when Adriano Ramos Pinto sought to express, through his wines, a strong connection to both the Douro and Portugal.
More than a century later, we continue to honour that legacy.

During the months of May and June Ramos Pinto’s team raises the new shoots of the vines by attaching them horizontally to the wires - practice called trellising. This helps guide the vine in its growth and allows it to evolve in height, in order to make the most of the sun's rays.⁠

Keeping in mind a constant improvement in the quality and authenticity of the wines, Ramos Pinto has stopped using herbicides in its vineyards since 2010, taking advantage of more sustainable agricultural practices that allow continuing to grow grapes that express the unique characteristics of the Douro terroir.

Ramos Pinto Quinta de Ervamoira is in the heart of the Vale do Côa Archaeological Park. This park protects 30 kilometres of rock engravings, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This is also an iconic estate having been the first in the region where the vines are all planted vertically.⁠
