Patient access does not begin when the patient reaches the exam room.
It begins with scheduling, preparation, arrival, registration, check-in, and knowing what happens next.

When those early steps are fragmented, the effects can continue throughout the visit: longer lines, additional work for front-desk teams, delayed patient flow, and greater uncertainty for patients.

That makes front-end access an operational issue as much as a patient experience issue.

Wake Forest Baptist Health addressed this by creating a more structured check-in and patient-flow process across more than 30 multispecialty clinics, including self-service check-in and automated wait-time notifications.

Which front-end process would make the biggest difference to the patient experience if it were easier?

In order to improve their patient experience, Wake Forest Baptist Health opted for Q-Flow's queue management solution and refined the patient journey.

Putting a government service online does not automatically make it easier to use.

As agencies expand digital access, residents may still encounter separate systems, repeated steps, unclear instructions, or a disconnect between what happens online and what happens when they need in-person assistance.
The stronger approach is to think about the entire service journey.

Digital check-in, status updates, queue visibility, staff workflows, and physical service should work together so citizens understand what happens next without having to navigate the organization behind the service.

St. Johns County Clerk offers a useful example of how connecting those touchpoints can create a more structured experience for both citizens and staff.

Where does the greatest friction occur between digital and in-person service in your organization?

What does a more connected student experience look like across eight campuses?

For one college, it meant bringing appointment scheduling, check-in, mobile access, student communications, feedback, reporting, and capacity management together through Q-Flow.

The result is a more consistent service environment that makes it easier for students to access support while giving staff greater visibility into demand and the overall student experience.
