Would your current SOP survive an AI test? 👀
Your SOPs are about to become AI’s instruction manual…
and suddenly that messy Google Doc is looking VERY important. 😂
Hear me out.
For years, we created SOPs for one reason:
“So my VA knows what to do when I’m not around.”
But AI is changing the game.
Imagine your business has this SOP:
“Onboard a new client.”
Okay… but what does that actually mean? 👀
🤔Does AI know when to start?
🤔Does it know which email to send?
🤔What if the client hasn't paid?
🤔What if information is missing?
🤔Who does it ask?
🤔When should it STOP and get a human involved?
That’s the difference between an SOP that simply documents a task and a process that can actually power an AI workflow.
And this is where I get excited about systems.
Your SOP needs to capture the thinking behind the task, not just the clicking.
Think: Trigger → Information → Steps → Decisions → Exceptions → Human approval → Done
Because AI can execute a process…
But your business needs to tell it what “good” looks like.
And please don't make the mistake of throwing a messy 17 page SOP at AI and saying:
“Here, figure it out.” 😂
If your process is confusing to your VA, it'll probably be confusing to your AI too.
✅Start with ONE process this week.
✅Pick something repetitive.
✅Write down how you actually do it.
Then ask:
“Could someone else do this without asking me 15 questions?”
If the answer is no…
Congratulations!!! You just found your next systems project. 😂 And eventually, that SOP may become more than a document sitting in your Google Drive. It could become part of the machinery that helps your business run.
That's the kind of systems thinking I want more CEOs to start thinking about.
