An invitation from the Chesapeake Bay Trust:
As a result of a consent decree related to alleged sediment violations at the Ridgley Reserve development, the Chesapeake Bay Trust has received nearly $2 million in Community-Driven Remediation Project (CDRP) funds to invest back into the community. These funds will support water quality and environmental restoration projects that protect aquatic and terrestrial resources and habitats in the Foster Branch and Gunpowder River watersheds.

At the listening session, we’ll share information about the proposed work and, most importantly, hear community ideas about remediation and restoration projects that could be supported through these funds. Your experience and perspective as a partner involved in this work will be especially valuable.

When in doubt, best keep out!

A harmful algal bloom is a dense population of algae fueled by excess nutrient runoff. These blooms can look like foam, scum, clumpy mats, or paint on the surface of the water. They can also grow beneath the surface, making some harmful algal blooms hard to see.

Going in or near water with a harmful algal bloom can make you and your animals sick. While most blooms are harmless, you cannot determine if one is harmful just by looking at it. Always treat algal blooms as dangerous, and follow swimming, fishing, and shellfish advisories.

Steer clear of discolored, scummy, or smelly water and keep pets away!
