I almost celebrated at mile nine…until I discovered the assignment was eleven. 😩🏃🏾♀️
This morning, I ran four miles with Miles Run Club and continued running because I thought my training plan called for nine miles.
When my watch reached 9.13, I stopped and prepared to take my picture. I was done—or so I thought.
Then I checked RunKeeper.
ELEVEN MILES!
Once your mind tells your body the workout is over, starting again is a challenge. But I told myself, “We didn’t come this far to stop two miles short.”
So I got moving again and finished all eleven miles.
But the miles weren’t the only gift from today.
I ran beside a young woman working in physical therapy. Because my children are interested in kinesiology, I asked questions about her experience—and she agreed to speak with them.
I joined my Million Dollar Circle community and learned from people bringing different experiences and perspectives to the room.
Then, while dropping off the Reset & Rise book packages at the post office, I met another author. We exchanged stories, lessons, and ideas.
Today reminded me that growth doesn’t happen only through personal effort.
Sometimes growth comes through a conversation.
Sometimes it comes through a new relationship.
Sometimes it comes from entering a room where everyone brings a different gift.
And sometimes it comes from checking the plan and discovering you still have two miles left.
RESET: Check where you really are.
RECLAIM: Choose your commitment over your temporary feelings.
REBUILD: Adjust the plan using what you’ve learned.
RISE: Finish the assignment—and help someone else rise with you.
Don’t close yourself off because you think you have to figure everything out alone. The insight, opportunity, or connection you need may already be running beside you.
Where are you being challenged to keep going—even though you thought you were finished?
Comment “RISE” if you’re committed to finishing your assignment.
