I didn’t expect to get emotional.
I was simply sitting down to listen to someone share their experience with Peaces & Pieces, and somewhere in the middle of hearing what this service meant to them, the tears came.
Because this work is deeply personal to me.
As a Nurse Practitioner, I’ve spent years listening to symptoms, histories, concerns, and the things patients sometimes struggle to put into words. But Peaces & Pieces has given me the opportunity to slow that process down—to sit, to listen deeply, and to make sure people feel heard before we ever move on to the next thing.
And hearing someone describe what that felt like reminded me exactly why I started.
I love what I do, but it feels like more than work. It feels like something I’m meant to be doing.
It is a privilege to be trusted with someone’s story, and I never want to take that lightly.
Sometimes the person doing the listening gets touched, too.
