Today felt especially important to me to share, even though I haven’t been very active in this space lately, because I haven’t seen many posts that truly reflect the significance of Juneteenth. Many people are posting simply because it’s on the calendar without fully understanding what this day represents.

I am a proud Black AMERICAN, and I honor today by encouraging everyone to take the time to learn more about our history. As Juneteenth has become a recognized federal holiday, many of the facts and deeper meaning behind this day have become watered down by commercialization.

You will rarely see the flag or Red, White and Blue incorporated into Juneteenth celebrations and advertising. But I love the fact that the flag which was created in 1997 by Ben Haith helps to remind us that it is an AMERICAN moment of victory and freedom because black history is American history.

Today, I pray for our country and and that we may all have the wisdom and courage to continue standing up for what is right, so that we do not repeat some of the ugliest chapters of our past.

How many times have you been frozen by analysis paralysis?

I personally consider myself a recovering perfectionist. I often overanalyzed every decision I made, which prevented me from actually making them. Then I learned that perfection is actually an excuse for not taking action. Don’t wait for the perfect opportunities to come; instead, take small steps to get to your overall goal, and over time, you will perfect the finished product.

“No” is a complete sentence, and usually, it’s the one that saves your business.

I see it to often, entrepreneurs wearing a million different hats, trying to do all the things. We’ve been conditioned to think that saying “yes” is the only way to grow. But honestly? Taking on everything is a heavy burden, and it’s unsustainable!

Your energy is your most valuable currency. People can feel when you’re showing up out of obligation versus dedication. When you say “yes” to something that doesn’t align, you’re actually saying “no” to the space you need for the right opportunity.

It is okay to say NO if the ask:
🚫Doesn’t benefit your long-term vision.
🚫Drains your mental health.
🚫Conflicts with your core values.
🚫Bonus: You simply don’t want to right now. (Yes, that’s allowed.)

Protect your capacity and keep your focus. When the real opportunity comes, you’ll actually have the energy to accept. 🥂

There have been plenty of days where I’ve felt like quitting. Days where my motivation was completely overshadowed by doubt and anxiety. But I didn’t stop, not because I always felt ready, but because I had systems and processes in place to keep me moving, even when I didn’t feel like it.

That’s what most people don’t talk about.
You don’t need to feel motivated, you need a plan and the consistency to follow through.

We all have the ability to reach the top of whatever mountain we’re climbing. It just comes down to taking it one step at a time.

And if I’m being honest… I was terrified climbing this mountain (my first and only hike 😅), but I did it. One step at a time.
