June 6, 1944. D-Day.
A day etched forever into history.
On this day, brave young men from America and the Allied nations stepped off landing craft, climbed cliffs, crossed beaches, and ran toward gunfire so the world could take its greatest step toward crushing the N**i regime and restoring freedom to Europe.
General Dwight D. Eisenhower told them before the invasion: “The eyes of the world are upon you.” He also reminded them, “We will accept nothing less than full victory!” And that is exactly what they gave everything to achieve.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt said it best in his D-Day prayer: “They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate.”
That is the heart of D-Day.
Not conquest.
Not glory.
Not politics.
Liberation.
Nearly 160,000 Allied troops landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944, across Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword beaches. Many never came home. Many who survived carried the weight of that day for the rest of their lives.
As a veteran-owned company, we do not look at D-Day as just a chapter in a history book. We see it as a reminder of the cost of freedom, the courage of those who serve, and the responsibility we all have to remember.
Freedom was not gifted to us.
It was fought for.
It was bled for.
It was defended by ordinary men who answered an extraordinary call.
President Ronald Reagan, standing at Normandy 40 years later, called them “the boys of Pointe du Hoc” and “the champions who helped free a continent.”
Today, we pause to honor every soldier, sailor, airman, medic, paratrooper, Ranger, and Allied warrior who stormed into history on June 6, 1944.
May the world never forget what happened on those beaches.
May we never forget what tyranny costs.
May we never forget the men who stood against it.
To the heroes of D-Day: thank you. We remember. Always.
