Mayor James P. Dodd is proud to share that Jersey Central Power & Light will be hosting a FREE Energy Assistance Event right here in Dover on Wednesday, May 13th from 10:00 AM–3:00 PM at Town Hall Fire Lounge.

This event is designed to help residents apply for the Universal Service Fund (USF) and learn about additional utility bill assistance programs. Community partners will also be on hand to answer questions and guide you through available resources.

If you or someone you know could benefit from help with energy costs, I encourage you to attend. Programs like this make a real difference for our families, seniors, and neighbors — and we’re grateful to our partners for bringing these important services directly to our community.

Together, we continue working to support Dover residents and ensure everyone has access to the resources they need.

Mayor James P. Dodd would like to inform the residents and business owners of Dover that, due to the impending snowstorm expected today into Monday, garbage collection for Monday will be cancelled. Residents and businesses in Section 1 will be permitted to place double service (up to 4 cans or bags per dwelling unit) on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Each can or bag must not exceed 30 lbs.

Mayor James P. Dodd would like to inform the residents and business owners of Dover that, due to the impending snowstorm expected Sunday into Monday, garbage collection for Monday will be cancelled.

Residents and businesses in Section 1 will be permitted to place double service (up to 4 cans or bags per dwelling unit) on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Each can or bag must not exceed 30 lbs.

On Thursday night (1/22/26), Mayor James P. Dodd convened a coordination meeting alongside the Dover Police Department & Office of Emergency Management (OEM), in collaboration with our local non-profit faith leaders through the Healing Hands Foundation.
Together, these partners worked to coordinate Code Blue and Warming Center operations to ensure a safe, warm place is available for those in need during the dangerous winter conditions forecasted. Special thanks to St. John's Episcopal Church for opening its doors once again. The Town of Dover Leadership remains committed to proactive planning, public safety, and community care during severe/extreme weather events. We also thank all agencies and partners for their continued collaboration and dedication to protecting our residents.

🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT 🚨
Mayor James P. Dodd, in coordination with the Dover Police Department, is actively enforcing the Town of Dover’s Snow Ordinance and the State of New Jersey’s abandonment of motor vehicles law.

Residents are reminded to move vehicles promptly from public streets to avoid being ticketed and/or towed at the owner’s expense. These measures are critical to ensuring safe travel conditions and allowing snow removal operations to proceed efficiently.
