Speed sensors are also known as pickups, magnetic pickups and speed transducers that sense the motion of a rotating object such as a gear, shaft, turbine, etc. The "motion" in our name is angular motion, not lateral movement. Through the use of interruptions in magnetic fields, speed sensors create output each time a metal object passes by the tip of the sensor. The number of these occurrences can be converted into how fast the gear, shaft, etc.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Motion Sensors potato peeling team who were runners up at the National Potato Peeling Contest at the EC Potato Festival today!!! Thank you Nic, Matt, Shelby, and Barb for representing Motion Sensors and thank you to everybody who came out to support us! Thank you Sarah for putting together our team and, finally, thank you to Bella the kitty for braving the crowds to put a smile on everybody’s face! We’re shooting for #1 next year!!
