So proud of one of my Florida clients, Seven Rivers Christian School, breaking ground on their new high school. What a wonderful impact they're going to have on the area and so many more young people will have access to a fantastic Christian education!!! Congratulations!!

CRYSTAL RIVER — Confetti filled the air above students, teachers, parents, community members and school officials Tuesday morning as Seven Rivers Christian School broke ground on a new private high

Apparently curling is growing super fast as a sport (hobby?) down here in the Atlanta area. Who knew?? Mark found this 🥌🥌🥌 curling spot and we booked a 90 minute session with some of our best friends since college. (I didn’t ask their permission to post their videos so haven’t included them here.) It was super fun - and much harder than you’d think. My Florida roots were showing, I guess. 🤣 My bruised knee should heal soon 🥳The people who lead the sessions are volunteers. They’re lovely folks, love what they do and love sharing what they love with others. It’s great! HIGHLY recommend going if you’re in the area! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 ❤️

If we aren’t doing what we were created to do, our body feels it. We are disconnected from our purpose. Our Creator. How are you fulfilling your purpose as a woman, as a leader, as a mom, partner, child, sibling, friend? Let’s lean in and support each other in our pursuits. Together we can lead boldly and live abundantly. In what ways are you fulfilling your purpose? If you’re feeling a disconnect, what is the one thing you can do to move in the right direction? Tell me in the comments. How can I support you and cheer you on? 😘❤️

When my husband pointed out that my original post was probably going to accidentally be misunderstood, I did EXACTLY what I was saying NOT to do, IN that original post. So I made this reel instead to get over it. Let’s say what we mean to say. Use our voices. Nay, we need to demand more that our voices are heard.

Ironically, while I was editing down this long raw content, I discovered that I must’ve said 4 different times something to “soften the blow” about men in leadership. Like I didn’t want to hurt someone’s feelings if they felt like I was being all disrespectful to them. What IS that? I cut those bits right out. Trying to step into my own voice. We can say what we mean and be a leader; it doesn’t mean we are taking or *trying* to take anything away from the other leaders in the room.

The economy isn’t getting any better and we’ve decided to bite the bullet and make the drive to start shopping at Aldi. Our Aldi in the Illinois town we lived in was super conveniently located. Not so much here in GA - so I’ve been overpaying at Kroger and Publix alllll this time. Not anymore, folks!! These are just a few of the great deals this week.

Our brains and souls need a reset after whiteboarding strategies for 6+ hours. Yesterday evening my reset was revisiting my childhood beach in Ft Lauderdale but my adventures have also included: amazing afternoons in museums with colleagues, crashing a fancy Hilton pool while waiting for an evening flight, strolling the San Antonio River Walk and more. It’s easier to hole up in the hotel, order Uber Eats and catch up on emails. And I do that too some nights. But man, what a difference it makes for my mental health to get fresh air and discover cool things! What are the ways you recharge and discover delight between the constant air travel and endless hotel nights??

I’m a road warrior. And I’m a woman in my 50s. What would I do without these 3 critical items??????

Ever experienced “Lizard Brain”?!?!

That’s when a rush of stress makes you enter “fight, flight or freeze” mode. Our amygdala FREAKS OUT like we’ve been confronted with a bear in the wild. And we revert to our most basic instincts which is to SURVIVE.

But really we’re just giving a presentation. Or being asked to speak up in a group major gift role-playing scenario. Or who knows what other scenario.

Lizard Brain is normal but it’s upsetting. And I find that WOMEN either face it more in professional settings or they’re simply willing to discuss it more.

The 2 examples I gave ^^^ happen to me in IRL despite the fact that I speak at conferences and conduct role-playing ALL the time. So what the heck??

My Lizard Brain always causes a wave of panic, then shame.

When I’m in the middle of it, my brain literally freezes. It is incapable of processing the words on the page. The talking points in front of me float around and the ability to understand language vanishes.

Here’s how I’ve learned to deal with this situation that I find frightening and embarrassing:
Breathe. (I know, that’s obvious. But I discovered I always hold my breath, which means my brain doesn’t have oxygen to fight the problem.)
Try to reset. (Step back from the podium; take a drink of water; do something to break the wave.)
Name it, if you’re in a place of trust. (When I’m doing school development training sessions and this happens, I’ve learned to say, “just a second while I collect my thoughts” or something similar. If your audience knows you well, they’re along for the ride. I’ve been complimented on my transparency in such situations.)

What are some ways YOU have fought off Lizard Brain? Let’s tackle this together! Tell us all here in the comments so we can all grow and learn to handle this situation with grace and strength.

Day One of a hard core effort to grow my businesses through sharing more of myself with the world even though it scares the living crap out of me to do so.

If you’re a woman learning to set her feet and lean hard into what it takes to lead boldly and live abundantly, you’re invited to join my tribe!

My problem: If it isn’t perfect, I don’t want anyone to see it. My base side derives self worth from achievement and the approval of others. I fear rejection. I am terrified of looking incompetent or unprepared.

It isn’t healthy. And as a growing follower of Jesus, I still struggle to remember that the only approval I need is from my King.

Unfortunately, both of my businesses are 100% dependent on trust and networking.
I’m a full time consultant in fundraising and communications to schools and nonprofits
I’m also a grown theatre kid and recently found a way to combine my passion for theatre and New York with my passion for supporting and empowering women by starting a NY travel advisory business for women

And these days, businesses don’t grow quietly and then get unveiled at peak perfection.

So here I am! Day One. DO IT SCARED is what they say. So I’m doing that. My goal is to post and post and post. And find my tribe. And grow as a person and leader.

The other thing they say: YOU MISS 100% OF THE SHOTS YOU NEVER TAKE.

I am not throwin’ away my shot 😘

Hey ladies!

October’s almost over and you’re gonna forget for yet another year about scheduling that mammogram if you don’t stop and do it now.

Stop going and doing and serving and helping and and and and…
And do this important thing for yourself!!!!

PRIORITIZE YOURSELF 🙏

Where might I be now if I hadn’t been so scared by a friend’s diagnosis that I insisted on my doctor approving a mammogram despite my being only 37 with no family history of breast cancer?

Take a girlfriend with you if it helps you overcome your fear.

You can do this!! 🩷🩷🩷🩷

(PS: Shout out to the fabulous and their commitment to a cure for breast cancer plus their team’s pink uniforms every October. I love and appreciate this so much!! ✈️ 🩷)
