Pond Champs

Pond Champs Pond Champs is a service oriented company that manages NE Indiana and NW Ohio ponds and lakes. You do not need to be present if this is the case.

We use equipment specifically designed to treat your pond or lake efficiently. Whether it is by a sprayer in a boat or an ATV mounted sprayer, we will always use our equipment responsibly and with consideration for your property. Our philosophy is to integrate a three phase program in order to achieve maximum results with an environmentally balanced efficiency. We integrate mechanical control and

prevention (the use of fountains, aerators and pond dyes), biological control and prevention (grass carp, nutrient reducing bacteria, bio-stimulants), and, finally, chemical control (copper products, algaecides, herbicides). By utilizing these three branches, we are able to maintain an aesthetically pleasing pond environment, which in turn, allows you to enjoy the beauty of nature and ultimately increases the value of the property bordering your pond or lake. We begin your program by measuring your pond via satellite imagery. We do not necessarily need to come out in person to view your pond while building your quote. Our main concern is having access around the entire perimeter of the pond, which we can see online. If we have any concerns about your pond or property, we will stop by on our own time to take a quick peak. Once measured, we then calculate a quote based on the size of your pond. We offer three service packages: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Bronze is for those who just want basic algae control. Silver is our most popular plan, with algae, submerged w**d, and beach/rip rap w**d control. The Bronze and Silver are biweekly treatments throughout the entire season. Our Gold is similar to the Silver, but will switch to weekly treatments from June through the end of August. Our add on services include water quality testing and biological muck removal (Muck Doctor). We also sell aerators and fountains. We achieve excellent results without danger to the aquatic environment, which include the fish, water fowl and frogs. Most of our material allows use of the lake for swimming, irrigation and fishing immediately after treatment. The few restricted materials will always be noted on a red flag posted along the shore of the pond and will be dated with the time and date of treatment. We have a couple options for our customer friendly payment schedule to make our program as accessible as possible.

1) Paying in full. This can be done by card or by check, whichever works best for you.

2) Putting a portion down and signing up with our Auto-Deduct program via card. As little as 20% down can get you signed up and on our schedule. 40% would then be auto-deducted on June 1st and the remaining 40% on August 1st.

Nature will do what nature wants to do, and a pond—even with service—is no exception. All it takes for algae and w**d growth is a little sunshine! While we regularly add “preventative” products to our ponds, growth can still occur between treatments.

Our services focus on maintaining the growth present at the time of treatment. We are committed to helping our customers enjoy beautiful ponds, and we proudly stand by our motto of being leaders in responsible aquatic management.

You don't need to be signed up for season-long services to take advantage of our Water Quality Testing! Reach out to our office for more info.

Water quality is very subjective to surrounding environmental influences. Some of these factors can make for unsafe conditions for using the pond as a potable water source, irrigation, or for activities like swimming or fishing.

With our Water Quality Testing service, a specialized technician will come out to the pond (independently from your pond treatment) and take the required samples for the tests. We test for a variety of potential issues, review the findings, and give you a detailed report on these findings with our recommendations.

Ponds may be in our name, but that is not all that we do! Our lake season is approaching!⚓️🌊⛵️

After identifying your w**ds and algae types, we submit an application to the DNR regarding our findings and what products we intend to use. Once approved, we can then move forward and schedule your treatment(s). Our lake season kicks off in June.

It is human nature to compare! You and a neighbor might have the same size pond, the same types of fish, signed up for service, etc...but that does not mean the amount or type of w**d and algae growth will be identical. Depth, slope, and shoreline are three major factors that can make the biggest difference between your pond and the neighbor's.

We work to deliver optimal pond management to every one of our customers, no matter their pond’s characteristics. Some ponds simply take longer periods and/or more treatments to see results. If you know your pond struggles with algae or has shallow depth, you might want to consider our Gold plan, which offers weekly treatments during the summer months.

When fertilizing your yard, be careful with how close you get to the water!

Fertilizers can have a similar effect in your pond and spark all sorts of unwanted growth if there's any runoff. We recommend in keeping a 15-20 ft. band around the water fertilizer free to avoid any eyesores later on.

Did you know that you can choose your pond dye with our services?

By default, we apply Crystal Blue to our ponds (top left), but can switch to Ocean Blue, Sapphire Blue, or Black Out upon request. Let the office know and we can note your preference! 💙🩵🖤

FYI..if we've already applied Crystal Blue to your pond, it may take some time to fully transition into the new color. Pond dye applications typically last around 4-6 weeks!
