🚨🚒 ANOTHER BUSY DAY FOR YOUR GLENWOOD PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS 🚑🔥
Since B Shift began their shift at 0700 hours, crews have responded to 7 calls for service, including 4 calls in just 68 minutes!
Today’s staffing consisted of:
First 12 hours 700-1900: 3 personnel (2 full-time and 1 part-time).
Second 12 hours 1900-0700: 2 full-time personnel.
Since last Sunday, October 4, the Glenwood Fire Department has responded to a total of 47 calls for service.
⚠️ STAFFING CONTINUES TO BE A SERIOUS CONCERN.
Our department continues to face staffing challenges, particularly when it comes to providing adequate personnel for structure fires and medical emergencies. These challenges affect our ability to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us most.
During a 68-minute period today, our crews handled:
🔥 1 house fire
đźšś 1 fully involved tractor fire
đźš‘ 2 medical calls
These four incidents were handled with a total of 7 members: 1 Fire Chief, 3 on-duty personnel, 2 off-duty personnel, and 1 volunteer firefighter.
HERE IS HOW THE CALLS UNFOLDED:
🕛 1228 – House Fire | Florence Avenue
Fire Car 1 – 1 member
Truck 12 – 3 members (2 on-duty, 1 off-duty)
Medic 2 – 1 on-duty member
Utility 11 – 1 off-duty member and 1 volunteer
🚑 1318 – Medical Call
Rescue 17 responded with 2 on-duty crew members.
🚜 1319 – Fully Involved Tractor Fire | Keys Road
Fire Car 1 – 1 member
Engine 15 – 3 members (2 on-duty, 1 off-duty)
Medic 2 – 1 on-duty member
Utility 11 – 1 volunteer
🚑 1336 – Medical Call
Medic 2 responded from the Keys Road fire with 1 on-duty crew member and 1 firefighter reassigned from Engine 15.
These incidents highlight the challenges our firefighters face when multiple emergencies happen simultaneously. Personnel must be divided between incidents, units must be reassigned, and additional resources may be needed while other calls are still being handled.
🛑 WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
We are asking the citizens of Glenwood and the surrounding townships to help us bring attention to the need for adequate fire and EMS staffing.
We encourage our community to engage with the City of Glenwood and surrounding township leadership to support solutions that provide sufficient personnel to respond to emergencies.
This is about more than staffing numbers. It is about your safety, your family’s safety, and the safety of the firefighters who respond when you call 911.
Our firefighters will continue to answer the call and do everything possible with the resources available. However, we need the community and local leadership to recognize these challenges and work toward a sustainable solution.
Please share this post and help us spread awareness. Our community deserves an emergency response system with adequate staffing to meet its needs.
đźš’ Your firefighters show up for you. Please show up for them.
